On April 9th the
2008 British Galaxy Book Awards took place. JK Rowling attended and won the
Book People Outstanding Achievement award!
Prime Minister Gordon Brown presented her with the award and had nice things to say.

"She has joined a distinguished line of British authors whose work has got the whole country reading,'' Brown said in a presentation speech made available before tonight's ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Her books "will be read for many years to come by successive generations,'' he said.
