i'm sure Ron's character is a bit deeper "than a beer"! Besides being loyal, honest & brave, having grown up with magic Ron is perhaps aware that there are a lot of unknown magical things that should be avoided, whereas Hermione & Harry growing up in the muggle world perhaps (at this point and the story) don't fully understand that not all magic is good!
