Harry Potter actors Maggie Smith (Minerva McGonagall) and Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore) have been nominated at the
34th annual Broadcasting Press Guild awards. Michael has been nominated as best actor for his roles in three UK television dramas:
Joe’s Palace,
Celebration, and
Cranford; while Maggie has received one in the best actress category for her role in the BBC Two drama
Capturing Mary.
Also nominated are: Stephen Fry (narrator of the British
Harry Potter audiobooks), for his non-acting performances in
QI and
Stephen Fry: HIV and Me; Daniel Radcliffe's ITV1 movie
My Boy Jack for best single drama; and Emma Watson's BBC1 drama
Ballet Shoes, which earned a nomination for the film's writer, Heidi Thomas.
The ceremony will take place on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the BPG Awards lunch at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Good luck to all those nominated!
