We
reported earlier this month about Czech
Deathly Hallows books being sold in Tesco supermarkets, which violated an agreement with the publisher, Albatros, that the book would be sold first in bookstores. At the time, Albatros thought the copies must be pirated versions, but it has now come to light that the books were legitimate. Tesco received the books from one of Albatros’s customers, Vltava Stores, who believed they had the right to sell the books online to whomever they wished.
According to Vltava:

We purchased about 10,000 copies [from Albatros] and eventually sold about a half of the stock to another company.

Albatros is now seeking monetary compensation from Vltava, and is planning to sue.

If Vltava Stores does not respond to our demands, we will launch legal proceedings against it so that rightful interests of both the author and Albatros are defended.
