“Black, William!” Liam heard the professor call his full name. With a deep breath, he stepped up to the stool and sat down. The stern professor placed the hat on his head, and Liam looked up, trying to see the hat, but he couldn’t. It was actually on his head. Ah, a Black, Liam heard a voice say, You can go with the other Blacks… Liam froze. It was going to put him in Slytherin. “No, I don’t want to be a Slytherin,” he whispered fervently. The hat fell silent, then said, Oh, you’re that one’s son. I did not realize… Liam half-smiled. “I want to be like my dad,” he added in a whisper. He hoped the hat would think he had what it took to be a Gryffindor. You’re certainly bold enough, the hat murmured in his head, you’ll go in GRYFFINDOR!” Liam let out a sigh of relief as he handed the hat to the stern professor and hurried to the Gryffindor table. He sat down by the other first years who were there and waited for Harry to be sorted. “Malfoy, Draco!” Draco loped up to the stool and sat down. The hat only sat on his head for a few brief seconds before it shouted for all to hear, “Slytherin!” Draco took the hat off with a smirk and strolled over to the Slytherin table, where he sat down next to Crabbe and Goyle. |
