quill *Activity* Let's Write a Letter to Jo!

Hello JKRFC members! Many of you have expressed interest in writing a letter to Jo, so... Caitlin and I have discussed it and we think it is a fabulous idea! Ask and you shall receive here at the JKRFC!

The purpose of this letter-writing is two-fold:
Number one - We can express all our gratitude and opinions to the person without whom this FC, this website, and this entire HP community would not exist!
Number two - If we want to expand this FC to include games and chats and all the fun things that come with our own full forum, we need to get involved in activities as a group! Consider this a strong step forward in that direction! We need good participation to make this count, so make us proud!

Here is how we were thinking this letter would work:
  • Each person will use their post to express their gratitude/feelings to Jo! While we want you to express yourself fully, we also want Jo to be able to read the letter in one sitting - so please do not write an OOTP-length post! If you can, try to keep it around 5 sentences, give or take. If you want it as short as a simple one-sentence "Thank you," that's completely fine! Do what suits you!
  • Please include your real name (unless you don't want it included in the letter to Jo, but she may think you're funny when you list your name as "DracoISsoHOTomgIloveHIM!" or something like that)
  • Make sure you include proper grammar. I doubt Jo wants to read a letter written in Internet slang ("Hey Jo, I think ur books r kewl n ur a good riter").
  • This letter will obviously not get to her before the holidays, so wishing her a Merry Christmas will likely be weird when she reads it in March. LoL! (I don't know when she'll actually read it - it depends on how long it takes for you all to post, for us to compile it, for it to get to her by mail, and for her to get thru all her fanmail - so yea, it could be March, maybe later, but let's hope not! )
  • If you have any suggestions/ideas/contributions to add about this letter that is separate from your comment to Jo, please include it at the bottom of your post in a different color, or at least, clearly demarcated as separate from your blurb.
  • The letter will be prefaced with a paragraph or so explaining general info about the FC, the site, etc. etc. so you don't need to include any of that in your blurb. (If you have ideas for what this intro should include, express them!)
  • While it is not required, it might be nice for us as a group to comment on all the things she's accomplished and contributed (though not all in one person's post.) For example, someone may want to congratulate her on being named Most Fascinating Person of 2007 and discuss that, another might want to discuss why she deserved the Childrens Writing Award she recently won, another might want to discuss her charitable contributions through Beedle the Bard and the textbooks, etc. etc. etc. Perhaps you may want to keep that in mind when you're posting, but don't feel obligated for that to dictate your post.
Thanks! Let's have fun with this and show Jo just how much we appreciate her! Start posting now and we'll keep you up to date on deadlines!
