Finally updating

More of Cody

But, of course, much more to come of him. I personally like him more in this story than the sequel, but that's cause he's more mysterious and not much is known

Kinda like Edward... better when he was less known and mysterious, once you really know him he's not as cool as you thought (that's what I think about him that is).
So yeah, ENJOY!
Believe me, title does say it all...
Chapter 8
Harry?
That evening, I was daring enough to go out. I don’t know why, but I actually felt like talking to someone that... seemed to understand slightly. Of course, that feeling will wash away as soon as I look into the onyx eyes of the predator.
The sky was still barely alight, the clouds and sky a shade of pink. With this light, I dared to venture into a small woods that I learned led to another ‘lake’ – it was more of a pond than anything.
“Decided to come back?” the male voice slid through the trees and into my ears.
I looked around, but I couldn’t see Cody. I didn’t like the thought of him stalking me; it was too eerie, especially with the darkness closing in. Turning back again, I kept my pace as I neared the excuse of a lake. I stopped inches from the shoreline, and I inhaled, the smell of salt water tickling my nose. Along with this scent was the familiar aroma of sweet flowers. I wasn’t sure if that was coming from me or Cody, honestly.
“Who’s with you?”
I inhaled again and realized what he was talking about. I recognized the spicy scent of Harry. That’s weird, what’s he doing here?
“Harry?” I called. Suddenly, a black-haired head poked around from behind a tree on the side of the ‘lake’ adjacent to me.
“Who are you?” he called. I knew he was asking Cody.
A gust of wind blew by me; Cody was running. He stopped in front of a stunned Harry.
“Your worst nightmare,” I heard him growl.
“Don’t kill him!” I snapped.
Cody looked over his shoulder at me; his eyes were pure black. He hadn’t ‘eaten’ in awhile, and that alone worried me. He turned back and seemed to be looking at Harry.
“Who are you?” he snarled.
“H-H-Harry P-Potter,” he stuttered in response. “And what’s your name?”
“What’s it to you?” Cody responded as he backed up a matter of feet, distancing himself so he would be able to keep Harry alive. He knew full well it was vital that Harry was kept alive.
“I’d like to know who’s threatening me...”
“Harry, shut up. Angering the beast won’t do any good.”
That comment was always an eye-roller for Cody. Thankfully he never got insulted by it, though... at least there’s some fun left in him.
“Beast? What are you, a werewolf? Full moon is tomorrow night,” Harry commented casually. I sighed and hit my hand to my head; what an idiot!
“Werewolf?” Cody growled. His voice got louder, still snarling. “You think I’m one of those
dogs?”
Naturally, he’d be insulted. Werewolves are a vampire’s mortal enemy.
“What are you then?”
“He’s a vampire, you idiot!” I called. “Why’re you here?”
“Wondering what you were doing... why’re you associating with vampires?” Harry called back.
“Not like I have a choice...” I muttered.
Cody chuckled, hearing what I said clearly.
“What’s so funny?” Harry asked, his voice having gone to a growl. He stepped out from behind the tree finally.
“Nothing.”
“Harry, if you care for your life, you should get out of here,” I called out to him. He looked at me curiously.
“What makes you say that? I’m not dead yet.”
Classic Harry, he reacts more than he thinks of the consequences. He should learn to be proactive one of these days; maybe then he’d avoid these kinds of situations. Hell, what am I thinking? This is
Harry!
“Do you realize how hungry Cody is?”
“So you’re name’s Cody, eh?”
I could imagine Cody’s eyes narrowing, the black of his irises blazing angrily.
“Harry, please...” I begged, hoping he’d hear me. Thankfully, he did.
“Fine. When you get back... I have to tell you something.” With that said, Harry trudged away. I watched him walk down the shoreline of the Black Lake and head towards the castle. As soon as entered the castle, Cody whipped around.
“You know Harry Potter?” he asked curiously, slowly making his way back to me.
“Yeah, so?”
“This could solve our problem! We could use you to lure him to the Dark Lord...”
I was shaking my head before he even made it halfway through his sentence. Cody stopped in front of me, placing his hand softly on my cheek. It had been so long since he’d touched me so carefully, the way he used to before I left. Despite how much I hated to admit it... I missed it. Damn it! He was making me vulnerable.
“Why?” he breathed the word.
“I would never forgive myself. Besides, he doesn’t deserve to die.”
Cody looked at me questioningly. I could tell he thought I was crazy.
“I’m not like my parents exactly... it’s not like he chose to be who he is after all,” I pointed out.
“But he chose to fight the Dark Lord instead of following him; instead of fulfilling his destiny.”
“And what would that be? Death?” I retorted, my eyes narrowing. Cody smiled at my anger and laced his fingers into my hair, toying with it.
“You have your options with being his friend,” he said simply after a few moments. His eyes burned into mine and after a moment I looked away. “Think about them.”
He kissed my cheek and then left into the dark shadows of the forest. As I went in the opposite direction, I fought the urge to scream in frustration. Either he didn’t get it, or he really
is a sadist!
