Mike Newell, director of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has recently been asked by Walt Disney studios and producer Jerry Bruckheimer to direct Prince of Persia. Others working on the movie, which is based on a video game, are Jeffrey Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow) and Jordan Mechner, who is the creator of the original video game.

No word yet as to whether or not Newell has accepted the offer, but he did visit Disney studios last week.
