Default Accepting an Outsider - Sa16+

hey yall! This is Tara and Katie here back with the sequel to A Better Beginning! Enjoy!

Summary:
Jeremy Donaldson, or legally Jeremy Malfoy, never felt part of his family. He looked nothing like the people he called his parents and Draco made it a point to remind the young boy that he wasn’t his real father. Jeremy, now at the age of twelve, has returned for his second year of Hogwarts in hopes that his year will be better than his last. His twelve year old ‘brother’ Julius made sure everything went wrong for the outcast. But his thirteen year old ‘sister’ Isabella and his ‘mother’ Tara were there for him. But Jeremy wants nothing more than to receive that acceptance from Draco and Julius as well. And when tragedy strikes, will Jeremy finally have a chance to redeem himself for the troubles his father had caused?

Chapter 1

The years flew by and the children grew. Julius had been born and grown to become quite the miniature of Draco. He looked, walked, talked, acted and even thought like his father. Draco had never been so pleased.
Isabella was quite the opposite. Her appearance favored her mother’s, but she had her father’s eyes. She was the perfect vision of a young girl.
Jeremy too grew. He had nothing in common appearance-wise with Tara or Draco for he wasn’t their birth child. And Draco liked to remind him of it sometimes. It almost bothered Draco to look at Jeremy, because it was like looking into the face of Lamark. And Draco would never forgive or forget what he had done, even if it was at the cost of an innocent child like Jeremy.
Tara and Isabella were the only ones Jeremy could count on. Neither of them judged him or anything. They were there for him, and they really cared for him. Draco and Julius were quite the opposite. Draco had almost made it a point to be mean to Jeremy. And Julius, being the spitting image of his father, did the same. Jeremy felt like an outcast. An outsider.

The train ride to Hogwarts had been fast, and the feast had been even faster. As soon as they were allowed to leave, the all full and tired students began to make their way to their dorms.
This was going to be Draco and Tara’s second year teaching at Hogwarts. Draco was the Potions teacher and Tara taught Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Being the Head of the Slytherin House, Draco was made to check the common room to make sure everything was fine and the students were behaving. When he was done, he told his son Julius good night, given his daughter Isabella a hug and simply given Jeremy a nod. Tara gave all three of the children a hug and looked at them all.

“Good night,” she told them.

Draco looked around the common room, a smirk on his face.

“Do you remember when we-,” but Tara cut him off.

“Remember there are children here, darling,” she said, her cheeks turning a little red with embarrassment.

She grabbed Draco’s arm and pulled him to where they lived. They lived in the Head of House dorm in the Slytherin dungeons. They both got ready for bed and laid down together, Tara’s head resting on Draco’s chest as his arm wrapped around her waist.

“Draco, I really wish you’d try to be more kind to Jeremy,” Tara said.

“Never,” Draco muttered.

“But please-,” Tara pleaded.

“Good night,” Draco said.

He flicked his wand and the lamps flickered and blew out and he fell asleep.
