Default Best Kept Secret - Sa16+

Well, I was bored since I finished my now most favourite book series (next to Harry Potter of course!) and I got stuck on other F.Fs, so I started another one after some thought about it. The first few paragraphs might be weird to you, but it’s just my foreshadowing on what might happen.
Hints will be dropped about the ‘secret’ throughout the story.
And actually, I started two weeks ago and I finished the entire story xD So updates won’t take forever since I don’t have much homework this semester to throw me off. Come January/February though, if it takes that long to post it all... different story 0.o

And it does take a few chapters to get into it, but it'll get interesting, promise!

NO, this F.F is NOT based on the song by Skillet. I liked the name, but the song didn’t fit.
And I’ve had longer F.Fs I can say. This is 20 chapters (so far, might add if I feel I should).
And the summary is a bit on the long side, I know, but you should read it all (depends on what you define as long).

Now someone has a story to tell...

Deanne Lyon has transferred to Hogwarts, hoping to start fresh at a new school. She’s always been different, and every time someone found out why, she would be shunned. Hogwarts is her last hope of ever getting a decent education. This time, she has to be more careful.
Upon her arrival for her final year in Hogwarts, she is automatically the centre of attention (as normal). After being sorted into Gryffindor, she becomes fast friends with many people, even if she isn’t the most trusting girl anyone’s ever met. They think they know her...
One day, though, after becoming Draco Malfoy’s partner in Potions class, things start to change. She finds herself torn between friends, and she finds herself in a situation where she’s stuck between two guys that have strong feelings for her, but they don’t really know her. They fight and vie for her attention, hoping to be the lucky one.
How will this mysterious girl with a dark, life-changing secret decide what to do about everything? And what will happen when the most unsuspecting help comes along from a mortal enemy, while at the same time is being harassed, annoyed... totally bugged by someone from her past? Someone that isn’t willing to give up on her?
Will she choose to tell her secret? And for that matter, who will she choose? Harry, Draco... or maybe her ‘friend’ from the past? Will she choose anyone at all?

P.S:
It does romance, I promise Just not for the first little bit... It’s kind of skimmed through in some parts, and I’m sorry for that It would drag out forever if I didn’t.
NOTE: This is 7th year and after the (first) Battle of Hogwarts, but Snape is still considered a professor (he’s the Potions master... again. Not DADA teacher). I figured he’d help with the story a bit

Chapter 1
The Hogwarts Express

Let me get this clear; I am not normal. You think you know who I am within moments of meeting me, but everything you think is wrong. I might be beautiful, ‘painfully beautiful’ as I’ve been told, I might be smart, so what if I’m graceful and nothing bad ever seems to happen to me? Does that really mean I am like everyone else?

It doesn’t. No matter what you’re thinking right now, you’re wrong. I can’t tell my secret to just anyone anymore, I’ve learned my lesson about that. I can’t trust anyone, and I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll end up being the way I am forever; that girl that can’t seem to get a grip on anything, never understanding, and when I die, I will die alone. No one understands me...
No one ever will.

Dropping down onto the seats, I pulled out my magazine and started reading. I listened to the bustling noise of other students passing by, clearly hearing every word of each conversation. They had good summers, by the sound of it. Lucky them, they weren’t being chased out of school and town... well, in the way I was. I’ve already been to at least 3 different schools within the last 6 years of my education. Each school was different, but they all treated me the same in the end; shunned.

But nonetheless, it always started out the same. ‘Merlin, what a beauty’, ‘who are her parents?’, ‘who’s lucky enough to have her?’. If I had my choice, I would rather be average, but because of him, I can’t be. Because of him, I have soft, faintly-tanned, carefully chiselled features that no other girl has, I have the shapes and curves all girls seem to long for. My eyes, though, seem to get everyone. I have seen people with golden eyes, yet my ‘piercing, violet eyes’ seem to get everyone in one way or another.

I flipped the page in my magazine, listening to conversations outside. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a group of people standing outside my compartment door. They were whispering to one another, but I heard them.

“Come on, there’re probably empty compartments further back.”

“This is far enough back, Ronald. Honestly, it’s not like Malfoy’s in there.”

There was an awkward silence, and then it continued with another boy speaking. “Mione’s right, Ron, it doesn’t matter. We’ve met new people before, like Luna for example...”

“And look how that one turned out!”

“Ron...” the girl, ‘Mione’, growled.

“Come on, the last time we went into a compartment with one person, it was Lupin.”

How come that name seemed so familiar to me?

“It’s only a few hours anyways. Don’t make such a fuss about it anyways; what’s your problem?” the girl snapped, still whispering.

“I just have a bad feeling about this...”

Ha!

“What? About returning to Hogwarts? I don’t blame you, it’s still unsafe anywhere in the world right now, but...”

“Shut up you two!” the other boy cut in, his voice raised slightly. “We can talk about this later if you must, but can’t we just sit down for now? Ginny will be here soon enough, and if we don’t get a compartment, well you know how that went last time...”

After another silence, the compartment door slid open slowly. I didn’t even look up at the raven-haired, emerald eyed boy that stuck his head inside.

“Are those seats taken?” he asked.

“Nope,” I responded casually, flipping the page in my magazine. I would’ve preferred a compartment to myself, honestly, but if these people have to, I can put up with it.

The boy pushed the door open, and two others behind him entered as well. I glanced up as they placed their things out of the way. Blazing, firey hair that hung rather limply as if it had not been cut for a long while caught my eyes. Even I knew who this boy was, and I didn’t even know his name. Who doesn’t know the Weasleys?

Before I could get a look at the girl, I looked back down as they turned around and sat down in the seats across from me. They seemed uncomfortable; wary to speak because of my presence. The Weasley, Ron I’m sure, turned to the raven-haired boy and whispered to him, unaware that I could hear him.

“Really, Harry, I don’t think...”

“Shut up, Ron,” Harry cut him off quietly. I could feel his intense, green eyes on me. I shifted slightly under his gaze, just as uncomfortable as he and his friends were.

“How was your summer, Harry?” the girl, ‘Mione’, asked, her voice still hushed.

“You can speak up, it won’t bother me,” I finally spoke. I looked up at them and into Harry’s eyes. He appeared taken aback as he looked into my violet eyes. His two friends were just as surprised as he was.

“So... are you new?” the girl, Mione, asked.

“Yeah,” I responded curtly.

“Where’d you transfer from?”

“Zapharnen Institute of Wizardry,” I responded simply.

“Where’s that?” Ron asked, his tone blunt. Mione elbowed him sharply.

“It’s a small school in Scotland,” I responded, turning my eyes onto him. He seemed to shrink under my gaze. “Not as big as... Durmstrang, for example. That place is probably two-thirds the size of where I came from.”

“Have you been to Durmstrang as well?” Harry asked, surprised.

I looked back at him and elusively responded, “I’ve been to many schools.”

“Got kicked out? What’d you do?”

“For goodness sake, Ronald...”

“It’s alright,” I cut the girl off. My eyes fell back on Ron. “No, I wasn’t kicked out, I left each one.”

When silence came in response, I went back to my magazine. As I flipped the page, the compartment door slid open. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a rather short girl with bright, red hair; another Weasley.

“Honestly, I turn around to just to say goodbye to mum and I turn back and you’re gone!” she snapped. I felt her eyes fall onto me, and she was silent. “Hello...?”

“Hi,” I responded as I flipped my page. Before another word could be spoken, the train started moving. This would be one long trip...
