Default I Promise... -Sa13+

Heyy this is Kate with another one shot! This ish ma third FF and ma second one shot! My other one was alright so i decided to try again! Its a tad long...but please read it!

The girl skipped across the meadow, the bright yellow of the sunflowers surrounding her giving her the appearance of a younger child. She twirled in little circles, her skirts flying around in elegant little circles. Her long, red-ish hair flew all around her, and her green eyes dazzled in the sunlight. She laughed, and this sound could make any old grumpy man smile and forgive all his foes. She fell to the ground, and, and giggled slightly as a boy followed her. He had shoulder length black hair, and his black eyes held a spark that they wouldn’t hold later on in life. He was a pale figure, and he smiled as he crumbled on top of the girl.

“STOP IT! PLEASE!” she shouted and laughed at the same time, and the boy continued his tickling of the cute girl. “I’m going to…to tell your MOTHER!” she shouted, and her eyes rolled as she laughed excessively. The boy grinned, and lay beside her. He grabbed her hand, and kissed it.

“Fine! But next time, my dear, I shall tickle you until you kiss me!” he said, and the girl merely rolled her eyes. The boy turned to look at her, and her hair almost blinded him with the reflection of the sun making it all shiny.

“What choo staring at, Sevvy?” she asked, cocking an eyebrow up at his creepy staring. She let go of his hand, and used it to flip her hair to the side. She had a feeling he was looking at it, again.

“Nothing. Nothing at all. Just the sun,” he lied, rather lamely. She sighed, and lay her head to the ground. Severus picked a flower, and kissed each petal individually. He handed it to her, and she giggled.

“You’re se sweet, Sevvy!” she exclaimed with a laugh, and she sat up to hug the kid. He positively beamed.

“Oh, Lily, I love you so. I always will. As long as I’m alive, I’ll never let anyone hurt you, and any of your loves ones. I promise!” he said defiantly. Lily just laughed and lay her head on his lap, closed her eyes, and fell asleep in that beautiful field of sunflowers.

The sun played with her eyes as she danced around in that same field, only she was much older. Snape was no longer the smiling little boy, and he merely pursed his lips as she twirled about. She giggled, and made her way over to him. She grabbed his hand, and pulled him sharply closer. She forced him to circle with her, and Severus found himself actually smiling weakly. The girl could always do that to him.

“Why the long face, Sev sev?” she asked, pouting a little. Severus winced at the nickname-he hated it with a passion.

“Lily-kins…” he started, and was happy to see her lips forming that legendary smile that could cheer him up on a rainy day. “Nothing,” he lied, and she sighed as she lay her head on his chest. She was his best friend, soul mate, and lover. He loved her. No matter what. He always would.

“No, really….Sevvy whats wrong?” she asked again, softer and more gently so that the hair on the back of his neck prickled. He took a strand of her hair, and started to twirl it around in his fingers.

“Potter.”

“Severus!” she cried, coming back to eye level and staring at him with complete and utter astonishment. “I promise that we aren’t- I mean, just because I actually am friends with him now doesn’t mean a thing!” she exclaimed, and Snape nodded.

“Oh, alright. I believe you. Its just…Lily, I love you so. I always will. As long as I’m alive, I’ll never let anyone hurt you, and any of your loved ones. I promise!” he said as she smiled gently and rested her head back on his chest as he gently stroked her hair.

Severus sat in the church, his hands folded neatly on his lap as he watched James pace nervously across the altar. He was sweating like a pig, and he couldn’t help but feel a bit out of place here. There, sitting next to him, was James’ family, and Lily’s family. He wasn’t either. He was merely Lily’s best friend…still. The music started to play, and Snape automatically jerked his head back, to see what Lily would look like. He blushed, and quickly turned back around.

Lily walked out, her smile as wide as it could go, and every single pearly white showed. She positively glowed…and her hair. Her hair sparkled in the dim lights of the church. Her gown was well fitted and showed off her smooth and built body, and she looked like a delicate little daisy…and Snape pouted. Jealousy tore up inside of him, so much that he had the urge to run out of there. However, he would do no such thing. Lily was his best friend, and if she wanted to marry this buffoon, so be it. It would slowly cause Snape to go insane each and every passing year, but hey, he didn’t have a say in this. It was Lily’s life. He had no say in what she did or did not do.

The young lady got to the front, the tears very apparent from where Severus was sitting. She smiled at him, every inch of her skin glowing in happiness and joy. Snape merely raised an eyebrow, but all else was dull and expressionless. He could have sworn, at the time, that her smile had faded for a second and only a second, but looking back he could remember no such thing. He watched in silent fury as she said her vows, and then kissed the man he had grown to not only hate, but hate with a passionly passion. He even turned his head a little, their lips meeting and connecting causing too much grief inside. When the wedding was over, he quickly made his way out the church before Lily could confront him. Then, a hand was placed on his shoulder, and he whipped around.

“You should go congratulate the bride,” said a husky sort of voice, and Severus sneered at Remus.

“I shall. Later…when not so many people are present,” he muttered, but Remus took his arm.

“No. Now. Lily…would be heartbroken, my friend,” he replied, and Severus merely scowled. Her, heartbroken? And what am I? And friend? Since when? He asked himself, and allowed Remus to drag him over to Lily.

“Severus! I’m so glad you came! I didn’t think you would!” she exclaimed, giving him a hug that cause him to wince in mental pain.

“Yes…so it would seem. But, reflecting back, I have always been loyal to you. Therefore, you thought that I would not keep the promise that I made to you so many times before? You think I am such an evil person that I, Severus Snape, am an unloyal and promise breaking person?” he asked, slightly hurt. Lily blinked.

“No! That’s not what I meant…but...well…you don’t like James,’ she said softly, and glanced over at her new husband. Snape cocked an eyebrow.

“But I like you, Dear Lily. Listen, I’d better go-”

“Sevvy!” she cried, grabbing his arm as he went to walk away. His eyes flashed as she said his old nickname…she hadn’t called him that since…before buffoon James.

“Listen, Lily, I love you so. I always will. As long as I’m alive, I’ll never let anyone hurt you, and any of your loved ones. I promise,” he said coldly, yet it warmed Lily‘s heart to hear those words. She quickly let go of his arm, and Severus gave her a cold look before walking out the church, sulking.

Severus paced his classroom with his arms behind his back, and the shades pulled down over the window causing complete and utter darkness in his office. He looked up sharply as an owl tapped on the window, and he swiftly made his way over to it. He opened the window with so much force that it almost cracked. He pulled the owl in by his feathers, and ripped the letter from the bird’s leg. He ignored the continuous screeches and howls and tore open the envelope. The letter was not written in her hand, and as soon as he finished reading it he crumbled it up into the tiniest ball and threw it in his raging fire. He slumped down on his chair, and pounded his fists on his desk. Snape buried his head in his hands, and he started to cry.

He kept muttering the same phrase, over and over. The tears that poured down from his face soon made a little puddle on his desk. He soon tried to stop crying, and he breathed heavily, still muttering the same phrase. He punched his desk again, splattering his tears across his desk. He lay his head on the desk, now, and wailed in such emotional pain that one would think he was dying. The owl was forgotten, and it soon fluttered out the window. The movement caused Snape to snap back, and he wiped his tears. He stood up, still muttering, and closed the window with a bang. He leaned against the wall, and closed his eyes, his mutterings sounding more and more psychotic. He slumped to the ground, and hugged his knees as he buried his head in them, still muttering.

“Lily, I love you so. I always will. As long as I’m alive, I’ll never let anyone hurt you, and any of your loved ones. I promise.”
