| Chapter 3 Chapter 3
I woke up unusually early the next morning for classes. I sat up in bed, grabbed my wand, muttered ‘lumos’, and looked at my watch. It was only 5:37 a.m. I was probably the only student awake in the whole castle. I was probably the only person awake in the castle. But who knows, Filch was probably awake. Crazy old stalker.
I pulled myself out of bed and went over to my bathroom. Being a seventh year, I was given the privilege of having my own room with my own bathroom. So I turned the shower on hot, slid out of my pajamas, and under the waterfall of steaming hot water. It felt so good against my skin, making goose bumps shoot up off my arms. Quickly, I washed my long hair and my body and turned the water off. I pulled back the curtain and grabbed two towels; one for my hair, the other for my body. I leaned over and wrapped my hair up in one of the towels and stood back up, tucking the end of the wrapped towel under. I then wrapped the other towel around my skinny frame, stepping out of the shower. I whipped the hot fog from the mirror and pulled my hair back out of the towel. I used my wand to dry my hair, and I brushed it out, letting it curl slightly down my back to just above my bottom.
I brushed my teeth for two minutes and then rinsed out my mouth. Usually after that, girls would apply make-up, but I didn’t. My mama always told me I didn’t need make up, because my eyelashes were so long and thick and curly, and I didn’t feel like bothering with it anyways. She also said my skin tone was the perfect color and I had a blemish-free face. She was right about the blemishes, but I dunno so much about the perfect color. Honestly, I don’t think I’m that pretty…
I went back into my room and pulled a fresh new pair of robes out from my wardrobe. Over the summer, I had gotten taller and longer legs, so I had to get bigger robes.
I put on my undergarments and then slid into my stockings. I pulled on my skirt and my white shirt, buttoning it up. I slid my Slytherin tie around my neck and my sweater over it. I wrapped myself in my Slytherin cloak and walked over to my mirror, examining myself. I don’t think I looked beautiful, but I guess I looked fine for classes.
I walked over to the door and opened it quietly, careful not to awake my fellow Slytherins. For some reason, my dorm door was loud. But I put a silencing charm on it, so thank God it didn’t wake anyone.
Quietly, I left the common room and began to make my way into the castle. I turned several corners, walked down many halls. I was nearing the Great Hall when I heard a voice.
“Good morning, Sunshine,” Draco smirked, stepping into pace next to me.
“Oh God Draco, don’t you ever leave me alone?,” I asked, turning into the Great Hall.
“Nope,” Draco replied, flatly.
I rolled my eyes and took a seat at the end of the Slytherin table. Draco plopped down next to me. I took a cup of coffee and drank some of it. Draco sat there, watching me.
“What?,” I spat.
Draco smirked.
“You’re not a very pleasant person in the morning,” he laughed.
“No duh Draco, you’ve known that since first year,” I replied.
Draco laughed again.
“Yeah but you were more innocent back in those years. You weren’t so snappy. And your temper wasn’t as bad,” Draco smirked.
“Don’t you have anything else better to do than to sit here and point out my flaws?,” I asked.
“To me, you have no flaws. I think you’re perfect. I love everything about you,” Draco said. “I wouldn’t change anything about you…”
I felt my cheeks begin to burn at his flattery. We sat there silent, Draco staring at me as I looked down at my coffee, for what seemed like hours. I looked around and students were filing in, tackling the breakfast. They all acted as if they hadn’t eaten in months. Big beasts.
Snape paced the table, handing students their timetables. I got mine, and soon Draco did too. Draco looked mine and then his over, and then whispered something in Snape’s ear. Draco looked upset and Snape looked annoyed. Quietly, Snape flicked his wand at Draco’s schedule and Draco smirked as Snape stormed off.
“Lookie there….looks like we have the same timetable,” Draco smirked.
“What did you do? Pay Snape to change it?,” I asked.
Draco laughed.
“Nope. Snape is a dear friend of the family, you know. He owed me a favor,” Draco said, a pleased look on his face as he leaned back a little.
“I’m sure,” I muttered, making Draco smirk more.
“You and your little one-liners,” Draco laughed.
I rolled my eyes.
“Draco, do this whole world a favor and go play in traffic,” I spat, standing up and turning on my heel.
I was already walking out of the Great Hall when I heard Draco yell, “What the bloody hell is ‘traffic’!??” |
