I don't really think the income should be the one factor to consider, but the number of tickets sold. Hey, the first 007 was somewhere in the 60's, when tickets cost a lot less! The number of tickets and population ratio should be the factors to consider.

On the other hand, about the undeniable succes of Harry Potter, there are loads of factors, the first one being that the book fans range from extremely young (not sure about the age of the yungest fans) to fairly old (again, not sure, but I'm sur I'm not exactly among the oldest), while Bond, for instance is more for upper teens and up. Us book fans are counted in the tens of millions, and then you have to add the movie fans, who would watch just anything, especially the blockbuster of the season, plus the fans of each new actor (Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, etc.), you get soooo many people.

But anyhow I consider it a great record. And still two to go, that record will be quite hard to beat.
