Chapter 2

Thank God, Dumbledore didn’t see fit to make us sit through another one of his long speeches this year. At least someone has some mercy.

I sat at the end of the Slytherin table, Draco next to me. No matter how hard I tried to get away from him, he always seemed to be there anyways. He was like a bad dream. But I’m sure all the girls of Hogwarts would refer to him as a sweet dream. Whatever.

“Seen anything good lately?,” Draco whispered, taking a sip from his goblet.

Draco was the only person besides my family who knew about my visions. He only found out because he is always watching me. He begged me for almost a year to tell him why I sometimes stared out into space for no reason. So I finally gave up and told him, making him swear to never tell anyone else. So far he hasn’t. And it’s the only reason I actually like him a little. It’s the only thing his big mouth has yet to blab. Shocking.

I felt a jerk in my neck, and all the sudden, my eyes went blank. I stared out into space, my vision playing like a movie at one of those muggle things called ‘cinemas’.

“You have messed up my plans yet again, Durvell. I’m getting pretty sick of it,” a voice said.
A flash of a cloak showed, and soon a tall, pale man was standing over a cowering boy, the boy holding his arms over the top of his head.
“Please, I’ll try to do better next time,” Durvell begged.
“You have one more chance, Durvell. ONE MORE. If you mess up one more time, your life and your pathetic family’s life will come to an abrupt end,” the pale man said, laughing, revealing a pair of white, pointy fangs. “I’ve been having a terrible thirst lately…you could be my next victim. I bet your wife tastes good…and lets not even think about your daughter…her fragrance is too much to bare…imagine the taste of her sweet blood…”
“Please, leave my family out of this…I beg of you,” Durvell begged again.
“Well then do the job right. I want that girl. Bring her to me, or you and your family will surely face the consequences,” the pale man said, and with a swish of his cloak, he was gone, running away at the speed of light.

And for a odd reason, my vision ended, but flipped right back to another one.

“Déjà, you’ve got to be careful!,” Draco exclaimed, carrying me down the hall like I was weightless.
“I’m sorry. I slipped. The rock was slippery…,” I replied. “It wasn’t my fault…”
“Well, I’m sure you’ve at least sprained your ankle…and I’m sure this will leave a mark too…,” Draco said, gently running a finger over the along the top of my eyebrow.
I winced back at his touch.
“Sorry,” Draco muttered.
“It’s fine,” I said. “Thanks for helping me, though.”
“I’d do anything for you, Déjà. I love you,” Draco said, laying me down on a cot in the Hospital Wing, stepping back and letting Madame Pomphrey go frantic around me.
“Draco, please don’t leave,” I asked, nearly begging.
Draco laughed. “I won’t. I promise.”
He plopped down in a chair next to my bed, running a hand through his hair as he looked over at me, smiling widely.
“What?,” I barked as soon as Madame Pomphrey was out of earshot.
“You look so innocent right now…that look on your face was weird, though, like someone was trying to push you into the lake…,” Draco said.
“Maybe there was someone…Draco, I’ve got to tell you something…I’m scared. I’ve been having all this stuff happen to me lately, you know!,” I hissed, looking at him.
His eyes bore back into mine. Draco took a hold of my hand.
“Don’t worry,” Draco said. “I’m here for you, I promise. I won’t let anything happen to you. I love you…”

My head jerked back, as if I was being pulled back from the table. I shook my head and looked over to see Draco smirking down at his plate.

“Have fun?,” he asked, smirking, already knowing what had happened to me. “You had two visions that time, didn’t you…?”

“Yes,” I whispered, pulling him close so I could talk to him. “First, I had a vision about a guy. He was getting threatened by this other creepy guy. They were somewhere dark…it wasn’t very clear. And then my second vision was about…”

But I stopped myself, not really wanting to tell him the vision. All the other students were staring, wondering why I was so close to Draco.

“What!??,” Draco and I both spat in unison, making everyone return back to their meal.

“Finish it,” Draco nudged me.

“Um…it was about me. I had slipped, and you saved me. But you had a bad feeling about the slip, like you thought it was someone else’s fault…,” I whispered in Draco’s ear, not noticing that each time I talked, my lips brushed his ear, and he was shivering from the feeling.

It was making him smirk. Again. Oh God.

“Well maybe it was,” Draco whispered back. “Maybe you have a stalker or something…”

“No Draco, don’t count yourself,” I replied.

“No, Déjà, I’m not your stalker. Just your boyfriend,” Draco winked at me.

“You are not my-”

“I will be soon enough,” Draco said, simply.

I rolled my eyes at him, making him smirk even more.

“What I meant was,” Draco continued, “maybe you have a real stalker. I mean, anyone would be a fool to not want you…don’t you see the way the boys have been falling all over you the past six years of your Hogwarts life?”

“Oh honestly Draco, I’m not that-”

“Yes you are, Déjà. Your beauty is almost too much to bare. I can’t believe anyone as striking as you would ever think that they weren’t pretty…,” Draco said, cutting me off again.

Gently, Draco ran his thumb over my cheek.

“You’re beautiful,” Draco muttered. “Everyone knows it. Face the facts. You couldn’t be ugly even if you tried.”

I rolled my eyes at Draco again, making him smirk more.

“I mean it,” Draco said. “Why do you think I always follow you…”

“I was hoping that was because you loved me for the inside of myself better than my appearance,” I said through gritted teeth.

Draco smirked even more. He always loved it when I got mad. I had such a temper, it made him smirk. I just wish Draco would go play in traffic. Like, muggle traffic, with the things they call ‘cars’ and everything. That would please me.

“I do. I really do love you. But your appearance is a plus…,” Draco said. “It’s what attracted me to you in our first year…”

“You’re so shallow,” I spat.

“No I’m not. I’m just insanely in love with the most beautiful girl in the world,” Draco replied. “I’m hoping one day she will feel the same…”

“Don’t count on it,” I said.

I rolled my eyes and Draco smirked even more. I could tell by the look on his face that he knew otherwise, that maybe one day I’d feel the same about him. Damn it. This wasn't going to work.
