I'm not sure why Rupert had to publically announce that seeing as pretty much no one knows of it in the UK, but i can see he wouldn't want to be seen as a sex offender here, considering his position.
However, it's easy to notice no one has asked if she consented to this. Not that that would matter at all considering laws. Or how old she is. She's just 'underage'.
