Scholastic has today announced that forty New York City public schools, comprising of 1,600 pupils, will get the chance to attend one of J.K.Rowling's stops on her U.S. tour.
The event, which will take place at Carnegie Hall on October 19th, will involve Jo reading from
Deathly Hallows, answering questions & signing books.
New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein and Scholastic Chairman, President and CEO Richard Robinson will distribute 40 “sorting hats” to representatives from each school to help select the lucky guests.
An announcement about who will be attending will be made on September 5th.
This is one of three schoolchildren only events taking place during the brief tour. The others will be in Los Angeles at the Kodak Theater on October 15th (schools to be announced on September 10th), and in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Auditorium at the Convention Center on October 18th (schools to be announced September 12th). 1000 fans will also be selected to attend a reading at Carnegie Hall on the evening of October 19th.
