BBC reports that, thanks to a £7,500 ($15,200.23) cheque from J.K.Rowling, a town in Zambia is one step closer to getting a new fire engine. The fundraising campaign run by Tayside Fire and Rescue Service aims to send the truck to Choma where they have been without a fire service since the 1960s. Jo's generous donation will pay for the engine to be shipped to Africa.

Mark Crush, who is organising the fundraising campaign, said the scale of the donation had taken everyone by surprise.
He told the BBC Scotland news website: "We had been writing to various organisations to ask for donations.
"A retained firefighter in Aberfeldy, who works on JK Rowling's estate there, suggested we ask her for help.
"We outlined how much we needed, and she provided the full amount.
"We were absolutely delighted. It was a tremendous gesture. We were shocked."
