Harry, Hermione and the Weasley’s were all sitting around the table finishing off one of Mrs Weasley’s delicious meals. Mrs Weasley got up from the table and made her way over to the kitchen sink, as she looked out of the window she gasped “Arthur its Albus Dumbledore and he looks very serious.”
Before any of them could make a move there was a knock at the door and Mr Weasley was striding over to open it.
“Good evening Albus what brings you here tonight?” asked Mr Weasley nervously, ushering Dumbledore into the kitchen.
“I am afraid I have some rather bad news” he said sombrely.
Harry rose from his chair he had a peculiar sensation in his stomach “what is it?” He demanded.
Dumbledore gave Harry a piercing look and spoke quietly and slowly so that Harry did not miss one word of what he was saying;
“Sarina and her aunt’s Jessica and Rachel were attacked tonight by Bellatrix Lestrange and they have all been taken to St Mungos Hospital.” He was silent for a moment to let these words sink in “I am on my way over there now, do you wish to come Harry?”
“Yes I want to come”.
“Then let us go now” he gestured with his hand for Harry to come forward “Arthur, Molly I will be in contact when I know more.”
“Yes thank you Albus” sobbed Mrs Weasley.
Dumbledore and Harry walked out into the yard and stopped when they were about fifteen feet from the back door “this will do Harry” he said quietly.
“Sir she’s not….”
“We won’t know anything for sure until we get to St Mungos.”
Harry took Dumbledore’s arm and felt the familiar sensation of being pushed through a rubber tube. They arrived at St Mungos Hospital seconds later and entered the building.
“You take a seat here Harry and I’ll see what I can find out” Dumbledore said gently.
Dumbledore walked over to the Healer’s station leaving Harry alone, he sat down on the chair his legs feeling weak, and he looked around the hospital trying not to think about what was happening. He placed his head in his hands not Sarina he thought and he let his mind wander remembering the past year, the first time he had met her, the months they had spent together practicing duelling and karate in the Room of Requirement. And just a few weeks ago she had risked her life to save his; he groaned and shook his head trying to stop the tears that were threatening to come. He pressed his hands onto his eyes and a picture of the two of them kissing in the Ministry of Magic entered his mind. With a deep realisation he knew that he was in love with her and probably had been for sometime he just hadn’t known until now and now it maybe to late to tell her. He groaned quietly to himself please let her be alright he thought I’ll give anything to make sure she pulls through this. This time he let the tears fall as he sobbed his heart out.
The hospital room was quiet as the three bodies lay on the beds still as statues. A Healer walked into the room and looked over the three and shook his head, ahh so young he thought to himself. He was making his way back to the door when he heard a gasp from behind him, he turned to see Sarina Taylor sitting bolt upright in her bed he ran over to her.
“Where am I” she cried.
“You’re at St Mungos Hospital for….”
But she was already jumping out of her bed;
“Miss Taylor you really need to….” She had already crossed the room and was looking at her aunts bodies lying on the beds.
“My aunts” she sobbed “are they…..”
“They are not dead but they are very ill” he said gravely.
“This is all my fault” she moaned.
“Miss Taylor you must not think like that, you are not responsible for Bellatrix Lestrange’s actions.”
“Do not speak to me about that woman” she hissed “if I had learnt to keep my mouth shut she would not have come after me. I not only put myself in danger, I put the lives of my loved ones in danger also” she added hysterically.
“Miss Taylor calm yourself please, we have been able to stop the curse from spreading any further and we are hopeful that we will be able to reverse the effects but they will be here for a while” he said giving her an encouraging smile. “You on the other hand are a different story, we were told when you were brought in that you had been hit with the killing curse but here you stand – it’s a miracle.”
“Well don’t get too excited, Bellatrix tried to kill me with a broken wand but I don’t think it worked too well now did it” sarcasm dripping in her voice.
“Be that as it may I would still like to check you over” he said sternly.
After what seemed like hours the Healer was satisfied there was nothing wrong with her except for the burn on her arm. Some more Healers’ came into the room;
“Why don’t we step outside Sarina we need to give them room to move so they can make your aunt’s better” he motioned to the door.
“I’ll be there in a minute” she whispered, she walked over to her aunts beds and placed a kiss on each of their foreheads. “Don’t you two worry, you just get better I’ll take care of Bellatrix” she vowed and walked out of the room.
Dumbledore came and sat back down beside Harry, he could see that he was crying and thought it best to leave him at it for the moment. He had not been able to find anything out at the Healer’s station as the nurse there had only just come on duty. His eyes roamed the room and he saw a Healer standing outside a door, he made to get up and go over and speak to him when a girl walked out of the room. He sat back down astounded at what he was seeing; Sarina Taylor was standing there talking to the Healer looking healthy and very much alive.
“Harry” he croaked shaking Harry’s body to make him look up. “Look” he said with excitement in his voice.
Harry hadn’t realised Dumbledore had come back; he was so caught up in his own grief and loss. He heard Dumbledore calling his name and shaking him, he looked up and saw Dumbledore pointing at something. He wiped his eyes and looked to where Dumbledore was pointing and there she was the love of his life standing there talking to a Healer. His heart skipped a beat at the sight of her and his stomach was fluttering with excitement. He sat there watching her God she’s beautiful he thought.
Sarina stood there listening to the Healer’s instructions on treating her burn when she felt someone staring at her. She turned and found a pair of bright green eyes boring into hers, she looked into those eyes and saw that they were filled with love and longing. She turned and walked towards him leaving the Healer in mid-sentence. He stood up from his chair and walked towards her, they met in the middle of the waiting room.
Harry took her hands in his “I love you too Sarina Taylor” he whispered and he took her in his arms and gave her a searing and passionate kiss.
Sarina didn’t know how long she had been standing there in a passionate embrace with Harry in the middle of a hospital room but she didn’t care I want this to last forever she thought. But they eventually broke apart to find the waiting room full of people applauding and wolf whistling and Mrs Weasley with her hand over her heart “oh my” she exclaimed.
Sarina and Harry had eyes only for each other “wow” she breathed.
She pinched herself on the arm to make sure that this was real. It had been even better than their first kiss because she now knew that he was hers, his kiss told her that. He wrapped her up in his arms and held her tight to him as though to say you’re not going anywhere but that was okay she didn’t ever want to leave his embrace.
“I’m never letting you go again” he said hoarsely “you’re stuck with me.”
“Sounds good to me” she sighed happily.
He gave her a kiss on the top of her head and they turned to face the others, his arm around her shoulders holding her protectively.
“Sarina” Hermione squealed rushing forwards and flinging herself onto Sarina engulfing her in a crushing embrace “we were so worried” she cried.
Sarina laughed “I’m fine Hermione really, I’ve never been better actually” she said looking over at Harry.
“Excuse me Miss Granger but I do need to ask Sarina a few questions” said Dumbledore stepping forward. He looked at Sarina and gave her a reassuring smile “I know you may not feel like it right now but I do need the details of what happened tonight.”
She had been expecting this ever since she saw Dumbledore in the room, she took a deep breath and told him the details of what happened that night, how Bellatrix had cursed her aunts and the tussle they got into after she had broken Bellatrix’s wand and the arrival of the members of the order and how Bellatrix cast the killing curse at her with a broken wand.
“Thank you Sarina you will be pleased to know that Bellatrix has been taken into custody and will be taken to Azkaban in the morning. I must commend you on your bravery tonight, another thing you and Harry have in common” he smiled at her.
She returned his smile “I don’t know about bravery luck more like it. I seem to be like a cat with nine lives” she chuckled.
“Right now we have to organise a place for you to stay seeing as you can’t return home on your own” said Dumbledore seriously.
She nodded the smile fading from her face; she couldn’t believe that she’d almost forgotten that her aunt’s were still lying in the hospital fighting for their lives.
“Oh yes right” she mumbled.
Mrs Weasley stepped forward then “we’ll be happy to take Sarina in Albus” she said smiling at Sarina.
“Thank you Molly that would be most helpful.”
“Yes thank you Mrs Weasley I really appreciate your generosity” sobbed Sarina.
“That’s alright dear, it’s the least we can do and don’t you worry about your aunts they’ll be up and about before you know it.”
Sarina wiped the tears from her face and smiled weakly at Mrs Weasley God I hope so she thought.
“Can I just go and say goodbye to them before we go” she said.
She walked back into the room where her aunts were and watched as the Healer’s worked on and around them. One of them looked up at her and gave her a smile “there are encouraging signs Miss Taylor that they will make a full recovery.”
She nodded to filled with emotion to speak; she walked over to their beds, the Healer’s backed away to give her room.
“I have to go now” she whispered to them “but I’ll be back to visit, I’m going to be staying at the Weasley’s if you need me” she added trying really hard not to lose control. She turned and walked back out of the room, once she reached the door she turned to have one last look at her aunts it’s not over she thought to herself not until I have destroyed Bellatrix Lestrange.
A week later Sarina could be found sitting in the kitchen of the Burrow with Mrs Weasley, it was early in the morning the sun hadn’t fully risen yet.
“Mrs Weasley could I ask you for a favour?” yawned Sarina
“Yes dear what is it?”
“Well as today is Harry’s birthday and I haven’t had the chance to get him anything I was wondering if I could borrow your kitchen to make him a nice picnic lunch and we could take it out to the orchard” she said blushing furiously.
“Of course you can Sarina” said Mrs Weasley smiling at her “and I’ll keep the others out of your hair” she added.
“Thanks Mrs Weasley” Sarina said jumping up and giving her a hug “you’re the best.”
Sarina spent the next couple of hours cooking in the kitchen as she wasn’t allowed to use magic it took longer to prepare but it was all done just before lunchtime. She packed everything into a picnic basket and looked around, no she hadn’t forgotten anything. Feeling pleased with herself she went off to find Harry, she found him sitting in the living room with Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Mrs Weasley.
“Happy Birthday Harry” she said walking over to him and placing a light kiss on his lips.
“I’ve been wondering where you were, I thought you had forgotten’” he said looking at her with sad puppy dog eyes and a pout.
She punched him lightly on the arm “very funny, I’ve been busy with your birthday present.”
“Cool, let’s see it must be really good if it’s taken this long” Ron piped up.
“You stay right where you are Ronald Weasley, I’ve got work for you to do” said Mrs Weasley sternly. “Off you go you two and have a lovely time” she added smiling.
“Come on Harry” Sarina said pulling him by the hand, Harry followed with a slightly confused look on his face.
They entered the kitchen and Sarina walked over and picked up the picnic basket, she turned to him “I thought since I couldn’t buy you a present that I would make you lunch and that we could spend a couple of hours alone together. So really your birthday present is I hope you don’t mind.”
His face split into a wide smile “No I don’t mind at all.”
They walked out into the backyard and up to the orchard hand in hand. They found a nice shady spot and laid out a blanket and sat down.
Sarina took out the food she had prepared “I hope you like it” she said nervously “I don’t think I can cook as well as Mrs Weasley but I can hold my own, I used to have to cook for my dad quite a lot.”
“It looks great and I’m sure it will taste excellent besides it’s not the food I’m interested in” he said mischievously pulling her in for one of his amazing kisses.
She melted into his arms she wished they could stay like this forever, when she was with him nothing else in the world seem to matter.
She pulled away from him gently “if we keep this up all my hard work is going to be ruined” she said breathlessly.
“Okay if you say so” he said letting her go reluctantly.
She dished out some food for him on a plate and watched his reaction anxiously.
“Hey this is pretty good” he remarked with a mouthful.
“Really you’re not just saying that to make me feel good are you?”
“No, it’s great.”
She beamed with pride and started on her own lunch. Once they had finished they cleared all the plates away and lay down side by side on the blanket watching the clouds float by. Harry turned onto his side and propped himself onto one elbow and stroked her face lovingly with the other hand. She sighed with pleasure at his touch ahh this was bliss she thought. He lowered his head to hers and brushed his lips over hers they were so warm and soft, he deepened the kiss and she felt his tongue enter her mouth, he tasted so sweet. She felt herself getting caught up in the moment she was feeling light headed, her heart was beating hard against her chest and she was feeling warm all over.
He ran his mouth over face placing light kisses on her nose, eyes and forehead before rolling onto his back breathing heavily.
“I think we better stop there before we get too carried away” his voice was thick with emotion.
“Mmm yes I think so” she giggled.
They spent the next hour talking about anything that came to mind and what their sixth year at Hogwarts was going to be like.
“We’d better go back Harry I told Mrs Weasley I would only steal you away for a couple of hours. I think she’s got something planned for your birthday” she told him.
They stood up and Harry picked up the picnic basket and taken a few steps back towards the house when Harry put his hand out to stop her.
“I just want to thank you Sarina, this was the best birthday present I have ever received” he took her face in his hand and tilted her face up towards his “I love you so much” he whispered and kissed her lightly on the lips.
“Oh Harry I love you too” she whispered back.
“Let’s make a promise now that we’ll say I love you to each other everyday” he said looking deep into her eyes.
“I promise” Sarina vowed.
A week later they were all getting ready for a trip to Diagon Alley having received their letters from Hogwarts a few days previously. They stood outside the Burrow waiting for the cars from the Ministry to take them to London. Once they had arrived they went through the Leaky Cauldron and out into the courtyard. They stepped through the entrance and looked around, Diagon Alley was almost empty and quite a few shops had been boarded up.
They split into two groups, Mr and Mrs Weasley and Ginny hurried off to Flourish and Blotts while Sarina, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Hagrid went to Madam Malkins. They entered the shop and Sarina was bending down to tie her shoelace behind Harry when she heard the drawling voice of Draco Malfoy.
“If you’re wondering what the smell is, Mother, a Mudblood just walked in”, said Draco Malfoy.
Harry and Ron had drawn their wands and were pointing them at Malfoy. Oh this is going to be fun Sarina thought.
Narcissa Malfoy walked out from behind the clothes rack.
“Put those away”, she said coldly to Harry and Ron. “If you attack my son again, I shall ensure that it is the last thing you ever do.”
“Really?” Sarina piped up and stepping out from behind Harry “and what are you going to do about it?” she asked her eyebrows raised and her wand also pointing at the two Malfoy’s.
Draco jumped backwards slightly and Narcissa had a look of surprise on her face.
“Aww what’s the matter you look as though you’ve seen a ghost” laughed Sarina.
Narcissa Malfoy put the sneer back on her face “I see being apart of Dumbledore’s Army has given you all a false sense of security. But Dumbledore won’t always be there to protect you.”
“Wow look at that he’s not here now! So why not have a go?” Harry said mockingly.
Draco made a movement towards Harry but Sarina took a step towards him her wand in his face “I wouldn’t if I were you” she said through gritted teeth.
Madam Malkin pretended as though nothing was happening and proceeded to adjust Malfoy’s robe.
“Ouch” bellowed Malfoy “watch where you’re putting your pins woman! Mother – I don’t think I want these anymore.”
“You’re right, Draco,” said Narcissa “now I know the kind of scum that shops here we’ll do better elsewhere.”
They made their way to the door; Narcissa Malfoy had just placed her hand on the doorknob when…..
“Hey Malfoy”
She turned to look at the four, Sarina took a step forward “Next time your at Azkaban tell your sister Sarina Taylor sends her regards.”
“Your luck is not going to last forever Sarina Taylor” said Narcissa her eyes glittering dangerously and she pulled open the door and exited the shop.
Sarina turned back to the others a big smile on her face “God that felt good, did you see their faces when they got a look of me – priceless.”
Harry gave her a hug and a kiss on the forehead while Hermione stood there shaking her head.
“You two have got a death wish” she snapped.
“No we’re just taking a stand against those who think they’re more superior to us” Harry replied quietly.
They entered Fred and George’s joke shop a little while later followed by Ginny and Mr and Mrs Weasley. The shop was packed with customers, the shelves all lined with Fred and George’s inventions. They all looked around the shop for a while when they noticed Draco Malfoy scurrying up the street alone glancing over his shoulder. Harry stood there for a moment lost in thought; Sarina could see the idea forming in his mind before he said anything.
He pulled his Invisibility Cloak out of his bag “get under here, quick” he said.
Hermione looked uncertainly at Mrs Weasley “I don’t know if we should.”
“Look the cloak won’t hide four of us” Sarina said “you three go and I’ll keep the others busy.”
Harry gave her an appreciative smile. Be careful she mouthed to him, he nodded to her and the three of them disappeared under the cloak, Sarina went over and joined Mrs Weasley and Ginny.
They were back after about twenty minutes where they joined Sarina near the back of the shop.
“Thank god, Mrs Weasley was starting to get suspicious I don’t think I could distract her any longer” Sarina said breathing a sigh of relief. “What did you find out?”
“Tell you later” Harry muttered as Mrs Weasley made her way over to them.
The rest of the holidays went by quickly for Sarina with all the going on’s at the Burrow and her trips to the hospital to visit her aunts; it felt like it had been only a week since she was last at Hogwarts. She was sitting in the kitchen on the last day of the holidays when Mrs Weasley entered the room.
“My you’re an early riser” Mrs Weasley yawned “it’s not even light yet.”
“I’m not usually up this early, but I haven’t been sleeping well since…..” she trailed off.
Mrs Weasley looked at her sympathetically “I understand dear but the Healer’s say they will get better.”
“But when are they going to get better” cried Sarina “everyone keeps saying that but every time I go to the hospital there’s no change they just lay there as though dead” she got up from the table and started pacing the room rubbing her knuckles “oh I’m going to make that woman pay” she spat.
“Now Sarina calm down please” said Mrs Weasley quite alarmed at Sarina’s outburst.
“I don’t want to calm down” she ranted “I want to see some justice for what that woman has done and I don’t mean a stint in Azkaban either” she looked at Mrs Weasley and could see the fear and anguish on her face “and not just her, all of them Voldermort and the Death Eaters they’ve ruined so many lives” she continued before sinking to the floor crying uncontrollably. How long she sat on the floor crying she did not know it wasn’t until she felt a pair of hands on her shoulders and a quiet and gentle voice saying.
“Shh Sarina its okay, I’m here it’s going to be alright.”
She looked up to see Harry looking at her with love and kindness in his eyes. He lifted her up off the floor into a standing position and held her in his arms; she rested her head on his shoulder. She looked up to see Ron, Hermione, Mr and Mrs Weasley standing in the doorway all looking at her with concern.
“I’m so sorry Mrs Weasley” she sobbed “I-I don’t know where that came from.”
“That’s okay Sarina you’re dealing with a lot at the moment” she smiled.
“Well that’s no reason to carry on like a raving lunatic” Sarina muttered.
“Since we’re all up let’s have some breakfast” said Mr Weasley changing the subject.
They finished their breakfast and Sarina got up to help Mrs Weasley with the dishes still feeling ashamed about her outburst.
“It’s alright Sarina, I’ll take care of these why don’t you go outside and get some fresh air, clear your head” she ordered gently.
Sarina felt even worse now, after all the Weasley’s had done for her, she had to go and carry on like a two year old throwing a tantrum.
“Come on Sarina” Harry urged, she nodded her head miserably and followed him out the door.
They went and sat down on one of the benches in the garden, Harry was looking at her questioningly.
“I don’t know what happened in there Harry; it just came out of nowhere. I haven’t been sleeping well and I was thinking about my aunts lying in hospital and I don’t know I just felt the rage burn up inside me, it was quite scary actually” she let out a long sigh.
“I know how you feel Sarina but they’re not dead there is still hope” he told her quietly.
“I’m sorry Harry here you are going through the same thing and you’re not carrying on like an idiot.”
“Your not an idiot and don’t worry about it, I chucked a tantrum also just ask Dumbledore but you’ve got it out of your system now” Harry said.
“I hope so” she mused.
He placed his arms around her and rested his chin on her head; they sat in silence for a while deep in their own thoughts. She turned to face him and looked deep into his eyes, she wanted to tell him that she wanted to be with always, that she will love him forever but though it was too soon to be pledging that kind of commitment, she didn’t want to scare him off. Instead she kissed him with all the desire and longing she was feeling. He was taken by surprise by the urgency of her kiss but returned it willingly, they broke apart breathing heavily.
“What was that for?” asked Harry
“Just, because I love you.”
“Well I love you too” he whispered.
It was mid-afternoon and they were all in the living room going through their school lists to make sure they had everything they needed when Mrs Weasley walked into the room.
“Sarina an owl has just brought this letter for you – it’s from St Mungos.”
Sarina took the letter from Mrs Weasley and with shaking fingers she opened the envelope, she read the letter through very fast her heart beating furiously in her chest. Once she had finished the letter she let out a sigh of relief and looked at the others who were watching her anxiously.
“They’re awake and their asking to see me” she squealed with delight.
“That is excellent news Sarina, we’ll take you over to the hospital at once” said Mrs Weasley and she went to gather her things together.
Harry came up behind Sarina and put his arms around her and whispered in her ear “That’s wonderful news baby I bet your feeling relieved.”
“Oh Harry I am and I want to thank you for always being here for me.”
“I’ll always be there for you” he said quietly giving her a kiss on the cheek.
They arrived at the hospital thirty minutes later, Harry and the others stayed behind in the waiting room as Sarina entered her aunt’s hospital room. Jessica and Rachel were propped up against their pillows looking one hundred per cent better than they had previously.
They looked up as she entered the room “Sarina” they said in unison.
“Hey sleepy heads welcome back to the land of the living” she said trying to keep her voice light.
“Ha ha very funny” Jess said looking serious “Rachel and I are fine but what about you? Dumbledore told us what happened, are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine, even better now that you two are awake” she smiled.
“Yes but what you went through must have been really difficult especially since we weren’t around” added Rachel.
“Lets not talk about it now, the important thing is we’re all alive and that woman has been caught and taken back to Azkaban” she told them.
“But….”
“No buts let’s just concentrate on you two getting better, you picked a really rotten time to wake up I go back to school tomorrow.”
They spent the next couple of hours talking; Harry, Hermione and the Weasley’s came into see them also.
“We best be going you lot you’ve got school tomorrow and you still need to pack” Mrs Weasley said getting up from her chair.
“Thank you for looking after Sarina, Molly, we really appreciate all you’ve done for her” said Jess giving her a hug.
“It was my pleasure”
“Yes thank you Molly….Uh Sarina can we have a word before you go” added Rachel.
“Sure, I’ll be out in a minute guys” she turned to her aunts “what’s up.”
They waited for the others to leave and then Rachel cleared her throat “so what’s going on between you and Harry?’
Sarina looked at her aunts blushing profusely but she had a huge smile on her face “we’re um…we’re together” she gushed.
“That’s wonderful Sarina” Jess said ignoring the look on Rachel’s face “we’re happy if you’re happy.”
“Oh Jess I’ve never been more happy, I’ve never felt like this before and it’s truly wonderful” she went on “he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Well he better look after you or he’ll have us to answer to” said Rachel gruffly but she had a slight smile on her face.
“Well I better go now, I promise I’ll write every week and I’ll be home for Christmas” she said “and you two get better and don’t go giving the Healer’s a hard time” she added looking at Rachel.
“See you later” Sarina whispered.
“Bye” they both said waving to her.
