Remnic’s Visit

Luna sighed and stretched her legs out on the bed. She had been placed in a holding cell overnight. It was pretty basic, the metal barred walls contained an uncomfortable bed which she had been lain on through the night, not sleeping, just thinking, worrying, about what was going to happen, what happened to Hannah and James, when she would be getting the Dementor’s kiss. A toilet was the only other thing in her cell. It felt quite cramped compared to her Azkaban cell where the only thing she had was her chains. Luna felt fairly comfortable, she had a bed and a toilet, plus there was no dementor hanging around the outside of her cell, sucking the life force out of her. No, this time the dementor was inside her stomach, clenching at every thought of what lay ahead for her. A fate worse than death.

"Well well well, captured by muggles, I'm rather disappointed in you Moore."
Luna span her head around to see who it was, so fast the resounding crack could be heard through the good acoustics of her cell. A tall man with jet black eyes and wavy brown hair shot with the odd grey one, stood at the cell bars. She could vaguely remember seeing him somewhere.
"Who are you and what the hell do you want?" She snapped.
"I'm the man who's been tracking you down for the last few months..."
Remnic didn't get a chance to finish his sentence as Luna jumped up and threw herself at the cell bars in front of him, looking positively bonkers. Remnic stumbled backwards with shock, away from the cell bars to which now Luna was clinging to in a crazed way.
"SO IT'S YOU!" She shrieked. "You've been the one chasing me down! Trying to get me back in Azkaban! Setting me up! It was all YOU!!" Luna pounded her fists on the bars with pure anger and rage.
"Yes Luna, Its me. I guess I didn't really need to bother, I should have left the muggles to it sooner." Remnic smiled at her, sending Luna into another fit of rage.

"When I get ou--" Luna started, it was Remnic's turn to interrupt.
"Luna, you're not going to get out though. You're being transferred to Azkaban later on today to receive the dementor's kiss." He said simply, watching as Luna stepped back from the bars and slump down onto the floor, the colour from her face gone as if she had been given the kiss already.
"You can't give me the dementor's kiss... you just can't!" Luna said, her voice shaky.
"It's not even in my hands Luna, the minister of magic himself has signed for the kiss." Remnic said with almost a trace of bitterness in his voice. He had worked for months to find Luna, and what did he get? A pat on the back and a 'well done'. That was about it.

"Talk to him! Tell him you don't think I should be given... it." She begged.
"But that would be lying."
That was enough to set Luna off again.
"YOU'RE JUST LIKE THE REST OF THEM!!" She roared. "YOU JUST WANT ME DEAD LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!"
"I never said I wanted you dead." Remnic said quietly. "I just think you deserve it."
"So you DO want me dead." Luna yelled, turning her back to Remnic, sitting cross legged on the floor.
"Turn to face me Luna." Remnic said in a deathly calm voice.
"No!" Luna snapped "Why?" She added hesitantly, there was something in his voice that felt weird to her.
"Because I want to help you."
"No you don't" Luna replied, slightly unsure though.
"Just calm down Lun--"
"You're not getting me THAT easily." Luna chortled, "You almost had me there, but yet again you fail to get me."
"I already have you Luna." Remnic replied slightly miffed that she hadn't fallen for his little tactic.
"No, the muggles have me, not you. You're just annoyed that you didn't catch me! Hell even the muggles did better than you did!" Luna laughed, she had no idea what was so funny, she guessed it was the idea that he had been trying for ages to catch her and he was outwitted by a bunch of muggles.
"Hey, I'm not the one who got caught by the muggles am I?" He said smoothly.

Luna scowled at him. "Muggles won't keep me long, before you can get me to Azkaban I'll be long gone. And it will be YOU I'm going after first."
Remnic pondered her for a moment before shaking his head slowly. "Luna, Luna, Luna. You have a lot to learn."
This confused Luna, what did she have a lot to learn about? Killing people? Well she sure knew how to do that a lot more than he did.
“Just get lost alright, you caught me, congrats, just shut up about it.” Luna scowled at him, he HAD to rub it in before she was kissed didn’t he?
“You’re not in much of a position to be making requests are you?” He asked with faint amusement.
“I will be when I’m holding you at wand point.” Luna retorted. “The first chance I get, you’re going to regret you ever crossed a Moore.”

Remnic stared at her for a moment, thinking. “You seem almost proud to be a Moore, even after what he did to you.”
Luna froze and turned around slowly to see him, speaking quietly. “What do you know about him?” She asked, not angrily, but nervous and shocked.
“I know enough of what he did.” Remnic replied simply, he knew vaguely of what happened, but none of the specifics.
“When did you know this?” Luna asked, in an almost accusing way, as if it had all been his fault.
“I only found out when I started looking for you but…” He hesitated, Luna wasn’t going to be around for much longer, so what was the real harm in telling her what he found out. “…but the ministry knew when you were 10, and they just forgot about you.”
Remnic braced himself for the explosion that would come, as if Luna was a time bomb and somebody had just set the clock running. Sure enough, Luna threw herself at the cell bars with an almighty clang.
“YOU KNEW!!” She roared. “YOU KNEW AND YOU DID NOTHING?? NOTHING!!”
“I didn—“
“YOU JUST LET HIM TORTURE ME!! NOBODY EVEN CARED??” Luna shrieked, bashing her head against the cell bars almost as if she was trying to use her skull to break through the bars.
“Luna stop it.” Remnic said ineffectually, Luna completely ignored him.
“HOW COULD THEY LET HIM DO THAT TO ME AND KNOW??”
“Luna you’re going to hurt yourself.”
“I DON’T CARE! THE MINISTRY OBVIOUSLY WANT TO HURT ME OTHERWISE THEY WOULD HAVE STOPPED HIM!!”
“Stop it Luna.”
“NO! YOU COULD HAVE STOPPED HIM!!”
“PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!” Remnic snapped Luna’s arms to her sides and her legs together, she fell to the floor with a bump and anger was still painted on her face.
“Its for your own good… the aurors will be here in a few hours.”
Remnic turned and left the room. Despite his experience with many murderers and criminals, Luna still left him quite freaked at what he had seen, Luna had been more unstable than he had imagined, no wonder people were scared of her, no wonder people wanted her dead, he could clearly see why now.
