I don't even know how I created my characters.

My advise is to just get a basic idea of what your character will be like: name, physical description, general personality ideas, and a vague background. Then, build the rest while you RP. I found that putting too much thought into the history or personality right away either hindered my RPing or I ended up having to edit my character profile too much because the character had a mind of his/her own and ended up developing quite differently from what I originally envisioned once they started interacting with other characters ad whatnot.
