This is another one-shot of mine!
It’s 1:20am and I’m bored, so I feel like writing one-shots since I finished True (my other Dramione one-shot). And guess what? I thought of the story line, wrote it out, and finished it all in under an hour! (1:20am - 2:17am! Record time, and I did it without having the song on my iPod or mp3 player during writing process). That and it’s the second idea for a one-shot and completed within a week, another record! YAY BOREDOM!
Two one-shots posted in under a day... another record! (well, day as in time-wise when I submitted). Crazy...
Song is by a guy I don't like all that much with his songs, but I must say this one is so good that after I finished writing this, I bought it from iTunes (yep, I spent 99 cents getting this song).
Anyways, here it is! At 3:05am in the morning I post another one of my one-shots (I shall forever experiment with how I use songs in one-shots).
Song: Just So You Know - Jesse McCartney
Story: Draco loves Hermione (no surprise there), but she’s with Harry and has been for the entire 7th year. Draco knows he shouldn’t love Hermione, but he can’t help it. At grad, he finally feels Hermione has the right to know how she feels because it’s tearing him up inside to see them together every day and her not knowing how he feels... *********************
Draco was leaning back in his chair, waiting for this bloody ceremony to be over. What was the point in making a fuss about finishing Hogwarts? He didn’t get why anyone bothered to make the students walk across a stage, get a diploma, and walk off. You were barely on stage for a minute, yet you’re waiting at least an hour to go through your minute of fame!
The row in front of him filed in. Looking up under his hat, he saw Hermione in the group. He sighed and felt his stomach flip at the sight of her gorgeous, curly hair slightly fan out from under her hat. He longed to stroke the brown tresses, run his fingers through the silky locks, feel her pursed, moisturized lips on his longing mouth...
Draco shook his head and pushed his thoughts away. He knew he shouldn’t love Hermione, he knew he couldn’t, but he couldn’t help it. If it wasn’t for Potter...
Professor McGonagall, the Headmistress, started with a short speech and started calling up names and students. Draco’s attention was focused on the back of Hermione’s head, completely zoned out. He didn’t care about all the other idiots in his year that passed, he only cared about Hermione going up there, finally recognized for something other than knowing the only right answer in class. His eyes followed her when she was called up. When she got her diploma, she smiled and got a picture taken. She looked into the crowed and seemed to see the intensity in Draco’s eyes.
For a short moment, their eyes locked, and feeling of longing hit Draco. He smiled momentarily and let Hermione break eye contact. He saw her pale red cheeks grow darker; flushing.
After three long, grueling hours, the ceremony finally ended with Blaise being called. Everyone started looking for their family, but Draco managed to evade his mother before she could blink. He left the main fields where the ceremony was held and went into the castle where a few people wandered. As he turned a corner, he heard music.
I shouldn't love you, but I want to
I just can't turn away
I shouldn't see you, but I can't move
I can't look away
And I don't know how to be fine when I'm not
'Cause I don't know how to make a feelings stop
Around the corner at the end of the hallway, someone appeared. As Draco’s eyes adjusted, he saw Hermione holding a shining, blue device. He looked at the device and at Hermione, who was quietly singing along. Draco knew he should’ve left, but he couldn’t. His legs felt like lead, his heart swelled.
Just so you know
This feeling's takin' control
Of me and I can't help it
I won't sit around
I can't let him win now
Thought you should know
I've tried my best to let go
Of you but I don't want to
I just gotta say it all before I go
Just so you know
The song stopped suddenly as Hermione ran into Draco. She stumbled backwards, noticeably surprised. She paused her music and looked up at Draco, her expression escalating in anger until...
“Don’t stop, it’s a good song” Draco said softly.
Hermione was shocked at what Draco said, and let alone spoke to her. She hit the play button on her blue ‘device’.
It's gettin’ hard to
Be around you
There’s so much i can't say
And do you want me to hide the feelings
And look away
And I don’t know how to be fine when I'm not
Cause I don't know how to make the feelings stop
Just so you know
This feelings takin' control
Of me and I can't help it
I wont sit around
I can't let him win now
Though you should know
I've tried my best to let go of you
But i don't want to
I just gotta say it all before I go
Just so you know
This emptiness is killin’ me
I'm wonderin' why I've waited so long
Lookin' back i realize it was always there to be spoken
Now I'm waitin’ here
Been waitin’ here
Just so you know
This feelings takin’ control
Of me and I can't help it
I wont sit around
I can't let him win now
Though you should know
I've tried my best to let go of you
But I don't want to
I just gotta say it all before I go
Just so you know
Just so you know
“What is that anyways?” Draco asked as he looked at the device.
“An iPod. A muggle thing, you probably wouldn’t be interested...” she put the iPod in her pocket.
“If you’re interested, then I am.”
Hermione was taken aback.
“Pardon?”
Draco heard the clicking of heels on stone. Poking his head around the corner, he saw his mom enter Hogwarts castle. He withdrew and looked at Hermione.
“Where’d you get the song?”
“Online... again another muggle thing.”
“Do you know anyone that understands the song?”
“No... I wish I could actually, but... why’re you even talking to me, anyways?”
Draco stepped closer to Hermione. She didn’t withdraw, but she seemed a tad uncomfortable. She let him take her hands, but the next thing he did surprised her - he sang.
“
I’ve tried my best to let go of you, but I don’t want to. I just gotta say it all before I go... just so you know.” Draco pulled Hermione closer and kissed her. He heard the clicking of his mother’s heels get louder, which forced him to break a kiss he had been yearning for 5 years. He looked into Hermione’s happy, yet confused, brown eyes.
“
Just so you know, I’ve always loved you.” He let Hermione’s hands go. Kissing her one last time, he walked away, wishing he could be with her.
