Hmm interesting. I don't know if I'd want illustrations in HP.. I just wanna know what happens next, no time to look at illustrations! LOL. But I do remember when I was younger, the illustrations kept me reading.. like if I didn't find a book all that interesting, I'd still keep reading it to get to the next picture etc.

A whole bunch of people here seem to think that it limits your imagination if there are illustrations in a book, but I think that a picture serves as a starting point, which you then build upon using your imagination. An image is there to complement the text, not to force you to think a certain way.

I do think it's a shame that illustration is seen as something that is predominantly for children. HP fans of all people should know that adults can like/enjoy/appreciate something that was originally intended for children
