When new threads are declined, they're deleted forever with no way to retrieve them. I'm sorry you lost your work, but it does say in the FF Rules (which you must understand well, if you want your thread validated at all) that you mustn't rely on Snitchseeker to store your work. Use MS Word or another word processing program to write your story first (access to the spelling and grammar checking tools alone is priceless) and save it before posting because anything can happen between hitting that 'submit' button and seeing your thread validated.

thank you soo much

There are rare occasions where the thread didn't reach the control panel for some weird reason. Please submit it again and we'll help you get your fic up as soon as possible.

Please read this thread before asking questions. This has been answered.

Fics labelled 'One Shot' in the first post, or that have 'The End' in the last story post rarely get deleted by mistake. It's something we look for when we're looking for inactive and finished fics. We tend not to move threads to the Finished Fics forum until they've been up a month. This gives your readers a good chance to comment on your fic, since they won't be able to reply to it after it's moved. (If you still want me to move it before that period, please PM me and I will.)

Requests to move your fic (finished or otherwise) can be made by posting in the Delete Thread (it's not just for delete requests) or by sending a private message to me or any other fan fiction moderator. We do ask that you provide a link for us, it saves us a few extra clicks to find your thread. Thanks!

Why is this?

'Heartbreak' complies with the rules
If it has reached the CP and it hasn't been validated, then it didn't comply. Did you remember to put an SS rating in the title? (like Sa9+ or Sa13+)?

It's possible that a technical glitch prevented your thread from reaching the Control Panel. Now that I know to watch for it, please try again and we'll try and get your thread up ASAP.

Typically, the one with the rating in the title will be validated (provided it qualifies otherwise) and the one without will be deleted.

if for some terrible reason u cant give my story back (which i should think u should put it in a PM and tell the person wats wrong with it!) could i go in my history and it be there?
Sorry, once a thread is declined for validation, it's gone forever, never to return. As the FF rules state, you should not rely on SnitchSeeker to save your work, since it's subject to loads of errors or glitches that could mess it up. Sorry for your loss.

As for PMing people, it would be a great deal of extra work to send messages to everyone about their story threads; and this work actually should be done by the writer before submitting. If you're not sure about your writing, check out the Beta Readers thread and see if you can enlist the help of a volunteer. They're worth their weight in GOLD, those folks.

Back in March of this year, I finished a fan fiction called 'Cause You're Watching Over Me. I realize (and remember... 0.o) I did forget to PM a mod or go to the delete/move thread to ask for it to be moved to the Finished Fan Fiction section, but when I remembered to do so (it was about... 2 weeks later), it was gone. I saw it in the Finished Fan Fiction section, but it was LOCKED! There were some little things I wanted to edit, but I can't/couldn't because of it and I don't even know why it was locked in the first place...
So why was it locked? (was it locked because I forgot to ask for it to move to the Finished F.F section?) Can it be unlocked so I can edit these small things?
When we scan forums for inactive fics, we also look for finished ones. You don't need to ask for it to be moved, if there's a "THE END" message in the last update, we tend to move it automatically up to a month after that post.

Threads in the Finished Fics forum shouldn't be locked; they don't need to be because that forum is set to 'no new replies', meaning the threads cannot receive new posts (from anyone; mods and admins too). I'm not sure why your thread was locked, that's just weird. I've unlocked it now so you should now be able to edit your posts. Let me know if any of those changes warrant moving it or other mod tools, ok?

You see, there's a scene in my soon-to-be Sa16+ F.F I'm not so sure about... you see, the story is (basically in a short and not such a great version) about how Harry and Hermione get into a fight about how controlling he is and how he has a crush on another (new) girl, so Hermione uses Draco to get Harry jealous. He catches on and using the growing relationship between the girl and him, gets Hermione mad, so Draco comes up with the ultimate plan to get Harry back...
Make it seem like... something happened between him and her in a closet in the library.
SO Ginny helps them by saying a 'code word', and they come out, acting all giggly and... giddy (I dunno, best word I can think of) and Draco's all (remember, they planned this out so nothing truly happened, they want Harry to think something did) 'we should do that more often...' and Hermione's like 'Yeah, we should...'

With the mild mention to what supposedly/Harry thinks happened... is that allowed for the rating Sa16+ or is it not? Because nothing truly happens, there's just what is said in the explanation - minor snogging (not planned between the two but yeah...) and it's barely noted, and nothing else happens - they just want Harry to think more happened.
So... is it ok or do I have to take it out?

If it's not ok, I can take out the entire chapter an a half (well, take out half a chapter and edit the other)...

Just checking before actually I get the F.F running and get to that part.
If you really want I can send half the chapter to you so you can see what I mean, but I'm just wondering...
If it's not completely written yet, then write it with the rating description in mind and do your best, then post it. Use your good judgement and you won't go wrong. If you're worried that what you wrote crossed a line, then it probaby did. If you aren't sure, send it to me or another Fan Fiction Mod to look at for you.

If you view Grimmauld Place from the Forum Index, you'll notice that it, like many other forums on SS, have been closed temporarily due to potential spoilers. We've encountered some trouble with people posting possible Deathly Hallows spoilers, so we're closed to new replies until the danger of being spoiled has passed. Sorry for the inconvenience. It's a shame that a few jerks would want to ruin things for the rest of us.

So yeah, how long? Til the 21st? Longer? If longer, how much longer?
I haven't decided. Maybe just until I've finished reading so that I can come and mod the place without danger of being spoiled.

And... with 'posting possible Deathly Hallow spoilers', does that imply that we might be revealing things in our F.Fs that might be used in the book? If so, how would most of us know if we haven't read it yet?
No not because you'd post them, but because we're having troubles with new people posting spoilers in threads around the site and we're trying to prevent that from happening. The spoilers are from the alleged BOOK LEAK that's been all over the news yesterday and today. Maybe you haven't heard. LOL. GOOD! Stay spoiler-free!

And why're the Fan Clubs closed but not Roleplays? The roleplays have a fair amount to do with Harry Potter in some form, yet the clubs that do with one specific group or person are closed. Just seems... odd to have it closed. Most of the Wizarding World is closed - the only ones open are the Roleplays and Non-HP. Obviously Non-HP can't be closed if it doesn't related to it, but roleplays not being closed?
I'm not complaining about the roleplay thing, but I'm just curious why that's closed while Fan Clubs are.

Just wondering overall
I'm not in charge of the fan clubs or role plays and didn't make those decisions, but I can speculate that since Fan Clubs are about actors and CHARACTERS, it is possible that people might try to post spoilers about characters in those areas. Role plays are not discussion threads, and therefore perhaps a less likely place for spoilers to be posted I guess. And since fan fiction threads contain both story and comments (about the stories and their characters), I personally decided to close them for your (and our own) protection from being spoiled. We've waited a very long time for this book and it would suck for some jerk to come and tell us who dies and stuff.

Thing is... this whole place is supposed to be closed. I closed it myself. I'm not sure how anyone is able to post in this thread. *investigates*
