I think that the trio will always be a trio. Even if they managed to find several close friends during their 6 years, Ron, Harry and Mione will always be the closest to each other.
When Ginny was going out with Harry, I had some kind of feeling that she is going to be a 4th member, but nevertheless I think it won't work. The trio is unique, no matter who will come.
