new post!: Chapter 23: Icebox - Omarion* Everything was a blur after that. I told Harry and Ron what happened with Draco and I begun to hang out with those two again. Draco and I didn't really say much to each other either. He had tried to explain himself on a few occasions, but I definitley didn't want to hear it. Besides, I know what happened. I let myself go. I was living the fantasy I had always read about when I was six. Only it had crashed and blew up in flames. And finally, the day came that I had feared most - graduation. It was the day where Draco and I, as both Head Boy and Girl, had to give our speech to the school. Together. I slipped on my dress, a short silky black one that my mother sent. I slowly slipped on my heels, while playing today's events in my mind, knowing what feelings I would experience. I was nervous by happy that I will be finishing my schooling at last. And...I was sad that this is how I am finishing it all. There was a knock on my door. I went over and opened it, half-expecting who it was. "Uh. Hi. Are you....you know.....ready?" It was Draco. "Yeah." I grabbed my robes and walked out with Draco. **** "And now, we end out ceremony with a speech by our Head Girl and Boy," Professor McGonnagall introduced us. I quickly looked over at Draco. He showed no emotion. "Thank you, Professor," Draco spoke. "Being seventeen isn't a cup of tea. It's one of the hardest ages you can go through in your life. But it's what we go through that makes it so great. SPending seven years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a privelege. You meet people and learn things that you possibly can't get from anywhere else." Now I pick it up. "My schooling at Hogwarts has been memorable. From starting at first year, I was unsure and awkward. And meeting that troll didn't make it easier. "But by second year I was glad ot be back. Although the school ran into some danger signs and speed bumps, it became safe again and the situation was handeled with special thanks to my close friends." I smiled at the memory. "Third year was when it got harder. People were getting older and it became new again. The dementors were at Hogwarts at the current time, and like Dumbledore advised-" I took a deep breath at his name, "We got through it with happiness and brighter times. Third year was a turning point where got to experience new trips to Hogsmeade on the weekend and choose new classes. "Fourth year was a big one. I get a headache just thinking of it. Hogwarts got to host the Triwizard Tournament and share its home with Durmastrang and Beauxbatons neighboring wizard schools. Harry Potter, Cedric Diggory, Fleur DeLacour, and Viktor Krum competed in three competitive rounds to win the cup. Although we lost our champion, Cedric Diggory rest in peace, Hogwarts pulled out on top with a win from Harry Potter. It's an unfogettable memory for all of us. "Fifth year was when rumours started. It was floating around that Voldemort was back and people didn't know and didn't like what to believe. The Ministry sent Dolores Umbridge to teach at the school, and from a student's point of view, that was a stupid choice. Many students began to choose their career paths and OWLs came around. It was difficult. "Sixth year was most devestating and harder. We were practicing our Apparaition and got the blessing of Professor Slughorn teaching Potions. A war broke out in Hogwarts and we lost the best headmaster to grace his presence at this school...Professor Dumbledore." Tears started to fall, and it was Draco's turn to speak. "Seventh year began and ended quicker then any year I've had at my stay at Hogwarts. The people I've met, befriended, and even dated have changed my life. I've learned more about myself and know what kind of person I was capable of being. I wish I could go back in time and change a few things but it wouldn't be right. What's in the past is gone now and all we have now is the future. We, the graduating class, have just begun another chapter of our lives." Draco stepped back to signal he was finished. The hall exploded into applause and I broke down. Draco let a hand on my arm but I turned around. I raced off the stage with tears flooding down my face. What Draco said was right. You can't change the past. I've got an icebox where my heart used to be. I've got an icebox where my heart used to be. I'm so cold I'm so cold I'm so cold oooh. Why can't I get it right, just can't let it go. |
