The room was silence, where it had been treacherous chaos seconds before. Ron looking at Harry, Harry at Hermione, Hermione at Ron. Incredulity on Ron’s face (couldn’t believe they’d just done that), Harry grinning (enjoying having done that) and Hermione’s countenance the silhouette of lighting fast thinking.

“Brilliant,” Ron said.

Harry nodded.

Sitting there in the girl’s bathroom was the troll.

Looking at one another fear, excitement, courage all of it still rushing in them. They smiled before sharing the true gravity of the moment. It would go unspoken, because things like that don’t need words; their glances articulating everything.
