The Umbrella Academy is a Netflix series, which features Elliot Page and a whole cast of TALENTED people, and is based on the comic book of the same name created by Gerard Way. It is about "a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father's death, and the threat of an impending apocalypse." (Wikipedia was actually useful for once?)

I, for one, want to discuss EVERYTHING about The Umbrella Academy. The characters, the plot, the music. It was so great! I binged it in two sittings.

Did you enjoy it as much as I did (aka very VERY much)? Who are your favourite characters? What are you hoping happens in season two (fingers crossed it will get renewed)? Had you read the comics before the show came out? If so, how did it compare? What did you think of the soundtrack?

So many questions and such an exciting show!

Is it awful that I have yet to see this show? It’s totally on my watch list though!

Despite it having quite dark topics (helloooOO END OF THE WORLD?), it's suprisingly feel good and I don't know how they manage that? It could be the family dynamic tbh.

But, yes, you should definitely put it high on your watch list!

I, quite literally, binged every episode in one day. I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED this this series. Everything about it -- the cast, the plot, the music -- was phenonimal.

Number Five is the best character though in my opinion. Hands down. Klaus is a close second for me.

I LOVED IT! I think all the characters are really well done and interesting (poor Luther though seems to be getting the short end of the stick among fans) and Ellen Page as Vanya was the best casting decision of the year!!

I also want to give a shoutout to the soundtrack of the show, it's PHENOMENAL. The songs work beautifully with the scenes, and honestly they kept me going through my binge when the show hit a few pacing problems in the middle there. I can't wait to see what happens next!!! And I hope they somehow keep the kid actor for Five, he was amazing and I'd hate to not see him next season

Also, have you guys seen this?? I won't link it because the site isn't SS appropriate but LOOK. Number Five appears to be pulling his cart with Dolores in it - but it's pictured on the wallpaper of the nursery. Some people are saying that it means that Reginald Hargreaves knew all along what would happen to Five, and maybe about the apocolypse! Or could it just be the set designers being funny. What do you think?



It's so binge-able, isn't it? I've watched it twice now and I could easily watch it again.

The casting was superb for all of the characters, but I love Aidan Gallagher as Number Five. How did he manage to portray a 58-year-old man stuck in his a 13-year-old body so well?

I agree that Luther seems to be getting the short end of the stick. Though, to be fair, his judgement is often questionable. I mean, locking Vanya up and forcing his siblings to go along with it??? Maybe Vanya would still have caused the apocalypse anyway but maybe, if her family had been there for her (and listened to Allison) instead of confirming for Vanya that Howard/Leonard was 'right' about how family view her, she wouldn't have. I know Luther is only doing what he thinks is right but...is he right?

YES. YES. YES. THE SOUNDTRACK. I especially loved the 'Run Boy Run' and 'Sinnerman' scenes.

Hello, yes Hello!! It took me a few days to watch all episodes and honestly I struggled to get into it (I think thats more of a me issue than the shows haha)

I have some thoughts on the spoiler image you posted also talk about info overload during the first like 10mins of the last episode XD

I think it is a pretty good show. I like the concept of how having superpowers doesn't necessarily mean that life is easy. My heart broke the most for my three favourite characters, Klaus, Five and Vanya. Imagine being locked in a room surrounded by spirits as a kid. It is no wonder Klaus has a problem with substance abuse.

Vanya being made to feel like she was nothing special and the way she was treated was appalling. It was just like waiting for the fuse to go off.

Number Five spending decades by himself with only Delores for company, I'm surprised that he wasn't more mentally damaged.

I love the characters (especially Klaus and Hazel!) but the MUSIC is what really sold this series for me. Which makes sense when you consider who created the series. Has anyone read the graphic novels?

oh god...seriously if i could have picked Delores as a favorite character i would have.... but i mean yeah i feel the same way he got by quite well considering he was alone for so long.

I love this show! I've got my kids watching it now too. It was one of those ones that didn't really grab me the first episode, but I'm so glad I held out and gave it a chance. The siblings are just so fun to sort through and see the differences.

I've recently started watching this and I am in LOVE! I kick myself mentally for not getting into this show earlier Anyway, I'm almost finished with season one {since season three is premiering in June}. Needless to say I adore Klaus! And Number Five! And Luthor! xD
