Hermione looked up, "Well the vampire part is easy. You just have to kill the vampire that turned you before the change is complete." But Hermione took a step back from Carrie, nontheless.
Yeah, she thought derisively, 'just'. "So when is the change complete?" she asked, slightly surprised that she could actually help.
"About 24 hours."
It was early morning when Carrie found herself walking down Knockturn alley looking for a silver sword with a covered hilt. The hilt needed to be covered so she wouldn't burn, being a vampire. There wasn't a lot of time for reading up on vampires, but she was pretty sure they couldn't go out in daylight. She began to wonder why it wasn't affecting her. It could have had something to do with the change not yet being complete. It was the most reasonable thing that came to mind.
She came to a familiar dark store and let herself in. Across the back wall she saw the display of swords and walked up, looking at each individual one. The shopkeeper came up, asked what she wanted, then held out a silver sword for her.
She looked at it, but did not reach out to take it. "Well, you see, I can't have a silver hilt," she answered coolly to his unasked question.
He looked at her warily, "Why would that be?"
She let her face remain expressionless. "My business is my own, and I'd advise you to stay out of it."
He backed off; he was used to the dark, withdrawn, introverted type. His business was business and nothing else.
She made her purchase and left.
She made her way to the Forbidden Forest, not sure exactly what she would do once she got there.
