Carrie pushed herself up and swung her legs over the ledge of the side of the bridge so she could sit. She leaned her back against one of the wooden supports and looked down at the lake. It was so far down, that if she were to loose her balance and fall she would not have the greatest odds of living. It didn't scare her, really. The fact that she was going to die was finally sinking in. Well, she wasn't positive she would die. But the flash of green light at the end of the nightmare and Draco's warning (well, more or less of a warning) seemed to finalize it into a fact.
There was no room for 'what if' s, or any other cliche wondering what could have happened if she didn't screw up so bad. She had done what she had done and she couldn't change it now. As much as she wanted to forget, she knew it was best to remember. The same mistake should never happen twice.
There is a difference between remembering and living in the past, she knew, but she was dancing between the line. It was time to move on and look ahead, but she couldn't tear herself away from the horrible things that she had let happen...
Carrie grabbed onto the wooden support as she lost her balance and slid down. She pulled herself up and let out a slow breath.
