The High Security Vaults Rules

1. All fan fiction here at Snitchseeker MUST be Harry Potter related. There may be fandom cross-over fics, but everything must be related to Harry Potter in some way – meaning actor Fics are no longer allowed, as they are not related to the Harry Potter STORIES, and are therefore not HP Fan Fiction. If you're not sure if your fic idea is appropriate, PM a FF Mod or Admin.

2. There will be no plagiarism. Fan Fics that were plagiarized or copied will be deleted and have severe consequences. All fics must be original and by the author.

2.a) Fics based on and containing song lyrics within the HS FF Section must be given proper credit; tell us who wrote & recorded the song at least, what album it appeared on and the name of the record company, preferably). Also, Song Fics within the HS should include (Song Fic) before the FF rating [Example: Story title – (Song Fic) Sa16+].

3. All FF threads MUST have a rating in the title. At present, only fics rated Sa16+ are allowed in the High Security Vaults (HS). If/when this changes, there will be an announcement. If you're not sure which rating to give your new story, PM a HS-FF Mod or Admin for assistance. The ratings guide is below.

4. Proper grammar and spelling are key elements of good Fan Fiction. Nobody is perfect but make sure you double check your grammar, spelling and punctuation before each post. If it will help you, ask a friend who writes well to beta-read your updates before posting. Check the Snitchseeker Beta Readers thread in Grimmauld Place if you don't know anyone who can do this for you. From now on, only fiction written in prose will be validated. There will be no more Instant Messenger fics validated.

4.a) There is to be NO usages of asterisks (*) in place of curse words, or otherwise. If you trip the censor, you must change the word or sentence so that it doesn’t show up as **** etc. or else imply cursing in the finished and submitted post. Otherwise, you will eventually receive a warning; or if you’ve already been warned, an infraction. Note that the ONLY mild cursing permitted is: hell, bloody, git and damn, but NOTHING beyond those.

5. Other members are allowed to give you constructive criticism. They may assist you with correct spelling and grammar suggestions in your FF and by asking questions regarding plot. These suggestions should be made kindly. If someone insults you or your story or is otherwise rude in your thread, contact a FF Mod immediately.

6. If you are commenting on someone else's thread, please be diplomatic and kind always. Keep in mind that some members may not want a lot of help and if they give a hint that they don't then please just back off. Always remember the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

7. You must never make rude comments or harass SS members about or in their FF thread. If you don't like a FF, don't comment at all. If you don't have something nice to say, refrain from posting. Do not harass a writer to update his/her FF. He/she will update at his/her own speed, not because you ask or demand it.

8. Any rude comment or criticism in a person's FF thread will be deleted and you will be contacted by an Admin or Mod about your comment. This could also result in a warning or suspension, depending on severity.

9. Please do not advertise your FF in someone else’s FF. As much as you want to, don’t. You should provide links in your own signature if you wish to draw attention to your own stories.

10. Do NOT spam in ANY FF thread, including your own. It just isn't right, and brings people off the subject of the story. If we see load of pointless spam in a thread, we will ask the offending member to stop, issue a warning or we'll just delete it and ask you to start another thread. If you really like a story, say so in one post after each update, not six times in a row within 5 minutes. If you wish to add more comments after posting, edit your post rather than posting again.

11. All Fan Fiction threads must be validated by a FF Mod, so you have to wait for a bit until you see them. We do not tell you when your thread is approved or not approved. As long as you know the rules and have followed them, your thread should be validated.

12. Your FF WILL NOT be validated if it begins with “This is a story about Harry and Hermione I will post what happens later.” You must have part of your first chapter in your first post so that the Mods can evaluate whether your story should be validated.

13.You are using Snitchseeker space to post a Fan Fic. Please finish your story. If you wish to discontinue your story, PM us and tell us to delete the FF. Space is valuable, as is our time moving it in and out of the Inactive Fan Fictions Forum.

14. If your FF is not updated in a month it will be moved to the H.S. Inactive Fics section. FFs in the H.S. Inactive Fics Section will be deleted (if not reactivated and updated) within 3 months of the last update.

15. See the ratings guide below to see what kind of content we allow in the High Security Vaults Section. There are NO sex scenes allowed on Snitchseeker. If we find ANY kind in your FF it will be deleted and you'll receive a warning. Also there will be NO Slash FF's. NONE, not even here in the HS.

16. Please refer to the SS board Rules if you are unsure about anything at all. If you have ANY questions at all, please feel free to ask in the Q&A thread or PM a FF mod. Your FF mods are: Lissydove , Blackened , Ozzy , demented_death_eater , Taking Back Kirstie , and Monkey Princess.

17. We like to see you finish your stories. When your story is finished, please PM a HS Mod to have it moved to the Finished HS Fics Forum.

18. When your fic is done, please go through it and find all the story posts. Put links in your first post to each story post, in order, so that new readers don’t have to sift through all the comments in your thread. If they’ve come to the Finished Fics forum to read your story, they are more interested in a complete story, not all the comments, plot discussion and suggestions.
