She heard the snap of a twig and automatically her entire body was on the edge. She held her breathe, afraid that even that might be give her away.
She remembered her first year sitting at the house table with the green serpent banner above it, when Dumbledore said that dark creatures lurked in these woods.....vampires, werewolves....
Not just dark creatures were dangerous though, others were not willing to allow strangers into their territory.
There was the creak of a bow and she shut her eyes tight and heard a dull thud above here head. Looking slowly up she saw an arrow parallel to her scalp, still slightly wavering, then completely still.
"People are no longer allowed in these woods. Leave now."
The centaur readied his bow again, which was now pointed directly at Carrie. She shuddered as she slowly got up. Something spooked the centaur and he jumped, letting release on the bow. The arrow was sent shooting directly at Carrie's left side of her chest.
"Diffindo!"
She heard a shout from behind her and opened her eyes to see the arrow break apart into splinters and fall to the ground. Looking over her shoulder she saw a thin, pale, blonde figure standing, wand raised.
