Well it's not very fair to your readers, who'll have to wade through the spam in order to read your fic. Comments and constructive criticism is FINE! GREAT, in fact. Off-topic or 'short, pointless, annoying messages' or SPAM, is not cool.
SPAM is against site rules and therefore, so forbidden in Fan Fics. So the answer is no. You can't allow spam in your thread, thanks.

Thanks!
We don't delete finished stories. We keep those forever (if we can!). When a story hasn't been updated by the author in a month, it's sent to the Inactive Fics forum. If it's not reactivated and updated within 3 months of the last update, the thread is deleted forever. The posts therein are lost from the post counts of the members who made them. We don't go and manually add them back when we delete a thread.

Personal note: I don't get the fascination with post counts. Because Snitchseeker is a well-maintained site, members' post counts are flexible. They count for nothing; you don't earn status, privileges or anything by attaining a high post count.

Don't worry. We have a sub-forum JUST for the Evil Elite threads. It's HERE. Just submit your dare piece in a new thread in that forum and once it's validated by a FF Mod, you'll find it listed among the topics there. After that's up, You'll post all future dares you accept in that same thread. Good luck.

"Slash" refers to homosexual pairings in fan fiction. Slash is not 'really bad'. It's just not allowed at Snitchseeker because slash fics very often contain content which is more mature than that which we're willing to allow here. That being said, we do NOT make exceptions for writers who 'promise to keep it clean'. It's just not allowed, end of story.

No, you did the correct thing. Unfortunately you have not read the Fan Fiction Rules which tell you that all FF threads are moderated and your new thread will not show up until a Fan Fiction Mod or admin validates it.

I've just checked the control panel and your thread is not in there. So either another staff member deleted it because it didn't follow the rules or it didn't post correctly. Don't forget to hit the 'submit' button. Try again please, after you read the Fan Fiction Rules.

EDIT 05-01-06: Actor Stories are no longer allowed on Snitchseeker.

To rate your Fan Fic, you must read the Fan Fiction Rules. All of the ratings used here at SnitchSeeker are described in detail. Once you decide upon a rating for your Fic, you must determine the forum you would like to post in, and submit there with the rating in your title. No Fan Fics are approved without a rating! So, please read the rules before submitting.

It says in the FF Rules thread that all new fan fiction threads must be validated by a moderator. They don't just show up in the forum when you post them. This may take up to two days, if mods are busy, but that is rarely how long it takes. A half an hour is a bit too fast to expect though. It sometimes happens, but it's not guaranteed. Your thread has been validated since you posted this question.

As wonderful as the story may be, it is our policy to disallow members to post stories on behalf of other people. The risk for plagiarism is very high in fan fiction as it is, and while I do not doubt your sincerity or your honesty, we cannot in good conscience bend this rule for you. I'm sorry. If your friend wishes to become a Snitchseeker member and post a story, that would be great. But we don't allow ghost-posting, nor do we host fan fiction created by non-members.

but it's been rejected, and I have no idea why, the beta reader that read over it said that everything should be fine. I can't think of anything else I can do to change it.

Thanks very much for your help.
A devoted SS fan.
Recently we've had a technical problem which we cannot explain, wherin a member tried several times to submit a new thread in the FF section and it never reached the Control Panel. It could be that you're experiencing the same problem. It is not in the Mod CP right now, has not shown up in the forum, and the threads I declined yesterday did not comply with the rules (if your beta reader checked it, yours should comply).

I suggest you keep trying once per day to submit the thread, until it shows up. Sorry I can't be of more help. I shall forward the problem to our technical team.

I never had betaread read my fan-fics before so this is the 1st time I am going to ask for one. This story isn't plagarized and it is my story. The plot of it is my own and some of the characters are mine, but the rest is JK Rowlings.

Please don't be too harsh on me and give a hard time on my story on how beter to write.
Sorry, but this thread is only for asking questions about the FF section of Snitchseeker or about the FF Rules. To find a beta reader, please browse the posts of available readers in The Snitchseeker Beta Readers Thread and PM someone to ask them to beta read for you.

It's tucked away a bit.
The old location was:
SnitchSeeker.com > Forums > The Hogs Head > The Forbidden Forest (15+) > The Restricted Section (FanFics)

The current location of mature fics on SS is:

SnitchSeeker.com > Forums > Diagon Alley > Gringotts Wizarding Bank (FanWorks) > The Gringotts Vaults > The High Security Vaults
Another way to find your thread is to look at your own profile and choose to see all the threads you've started. It would be there, linked, from that list. Above every page in the forum (in the white box beside your PM Notices) is a string that leads to the location you're in. For example, this Questions thread is located here: SnitchSeeker.com > Forums > Diagon Alley > Gringotts Wizarding Bank (FanWorks) > The Gringotts Vaults > FF Rules & Resources. Find your thread from your profile, look up to the top of the screen and you've found the RS. At least, that's one of the ways I find my way around. Another thing I do is keep a folder of Just Snitchseeker book marks. I personally find it easier to have all my SS stops bookmarked in my browser's toolbar.

I don't see it in the control panel, so either it didn't go through or another FF mod declined it. I suggest you review the FF rules and make sure your thread complies, then try again. We'll try to help you get your fic up as soon as possible.

As long as the rest of the post complied with the rules, it would have been validated. We generally fix errors in the title for you when we see them.

To find any thread by you, click on your own name from the index page of the site, where the online members are listed. At your profile, click 'view all threads by this member'. If your thread hasn't shown up in that list, then there was something about your post that didn't comply with the FF Rules (Sometimes, it's something as basic as having too many spelling, punctuation or grammar errors for us to take time to fix, so please proof read your post before submitting). Review the FF Rules and make sure your new thread complies, then try again please.

Absolutely. If you have all original characters in Harry's world, it is still HP fan fiction and still allowed on SS as long as it follows the rules.

Check your own profile by clicking on your name in the member list or beside a post you made. Click on the link to 'find all threads by this member'. If your fic was validated, it will show up in the results. If it hasn't shown up in that list within 24 hours, chances are it was declined validation. Review the FF Rules and your story & title again to make sure everything complies. Then try submitting again.

This is Gringotts Wizarding Bank, the Fan Fiction department. You're looking for Madame Malkin's (Signatures and Avatars), third floor and to your right. Please do check out the Site Rules & Frequently Asked Questions on the way. Welcome to Snitchseeker!

Yes please. If you look back in this thread, we were having some trouble with the forum not sending some new threads to the CP at all, even after repeated tries. We're not sure why yet, though we have asked the Tech team to look into it.

As you may already know, our team has been doing lots of work lately to try and optimize the site and server so we can upgrade the forum software, and we're getting timeouts and database errors. Anything like that might have highjacked your post too, so we really really appreciate your patience with this process. We'll try to get your thread up as soon as we can. When in doubt, post again.

That's completely up to you. If it's more about Fred & George than it is about being funny, then I'd put it in Characters over Comedy.. but the Other category is a hard one. If you're really not sure what genre suits your story best, then it goes in Other. At least if you know it's mainly about the Twins and their personal characters/personalities, it certainly qualifies for Character Stories.

If in the course of writing it you decide it belongs in a different forum than you choose now, we can always move it for you.

My advice whenever this happens is to consult The FF Rules and make sure your thread complies with them. Make sure you have a rating in the title (see the rules for the guide to rating your fic) and that you've proof-read your work and used proper english spelling (US and UK spellings accepted), punctuation and grammar (we do not validate threads written in chatspeak or leet). Make sure your content isn't too mature and that the rating you're giving it is appropriate for the maturity of content.

If you have more trouble, please PM me and I'll try and help you out privately. We'll get your fic up as soon as we can, ok?

Head on over to Madam Malkin's forum, where you'll find all you need to know about getting a signature put in.

PM me with a reply.
Any fic dealing with the issues you mentioned must be carefully written to comply with our ratings guide. Those are mature issues and a story like that should be rated Sa16+ and posted to the High Security Vaults only. I went to the site to browse the fic but it made my computer crash. As always Chris, just follow the rules about content and ratings and you'll be fine. It's your responsibility to know the rules and write accordingly. No one will fault you for choosing somewhere else to post a story that might be too mature for SS.

You might want to use a Snitchseeker Beta reader if you're not sure if you're crossing a line, as they should know our rules and be able to help you comply with them. Thanks!

Your Fanfic is validated based on your first post. Simply submit your thread with the first chapter of your FanFic. If it is approved, it will appear in the forum you posted to. Future chapters and posts do not go through the validation process, they simply appear in your thread at the time of the post. However, I will point out that all FanFics are moderated individually, so any posts that break SS rules will be found and dealt with accordingly.

2) Are you allowed to have one chapter in one post?
Yes, one chapter per post is fine and the most common style of posting.

Is there a place for this? Thanks!
Collaborative projects are welcomed anywhere you can post fiction at Snitchseeker. Start your thread in whichever genre you feel it fits, and make your title something that suggests it's a game or collaborative story. Happy writing!

You can make your story about anyone, as long as it takes place in Harry's world. OR, you can write about Harry and Co. as they might exist in another world in the Fandom Crossover Stories forum. It just has to involve Harry Potter or the Wizarding World.

Also I can't change in the poetry section: Chrispotter's poems about Harry Potter characters Sa9+ to Chrisd2000's poems about Harry Potter characters and non-hp. How can I do that?

When I get replies by e-mail it says: either of them when I want to change it the original thread.

Members can only edit the content of their posts. Only moderators or admins may edit thread info, like titles.

I'll be happy to change your title for you. Please make certain that the more mature content to come doesn't exceed the Sa13+ rating, or PM me to rate it Sa16+ and move it to the Restricted Section for you. Thanks.

As for your poetry thread, please review the rules for the Sphinx's Sofa. All poetry must be Harry Potter related. I will not be editing the title of that thread for you unless Sir_Spots authorizes such a change.

Hi Marauder. The Fan Fiction department has a good-sized staff. Your fan fiction thread shouldn't take more than 24 hours at most to be validated. I know that we all try to check the control panel at least once per day for new threads.

Please read The FF Rules and this thread before asking questions.

As mentioned earlier in this thread and the rules thread/FAQ:

If you're certain it complied with the FF rules, then there might have been some technical glitch that prevented it from reaching the Control Panel. Remember that all FF threads must be approved by a FF moderator and that the process can take 24 hours, and sometimes but rarely more. It is not in the CP right now, so either it was declined or there was a glitch. Please try submitting again.

I was reading the ratings guide and my story fits somewhere in between Sa13+ and Sa16+ but I wouldn't know which area to post it, either GP or the restricted section. If you're concerned about exceeding an Sa13+ rating, I'd say play it safe and open your thread in the Restricted Section (High Security Vaults) with a rating of Sa16+. Remember, everyone can still access the R.S. for mature content whenever they're looking for it. We only separate it so that those who don't want to read mature content don't just stumble across it.

It was declined validation for some reason. Make sure you've read and understood The FF Rules and re-post your new FF thread. (Remember that lack of proper capitalization, spelling and punctuation may have been the culprit. Do another proof-reading or get a Beta Reader to help you before resubmitting.)
