I think I understand what you meant...Dumbledore is afraid of not being up to the task, either mentally or physically, and by task I mean all the responsibility and burden he has to shoulder: taking care of the kids and teachers, leading the Order, getting Harry ready to defeat Voldemort. JKR said Dumbledore has no confidante or mentor of his own; everyone leans on him. Even the Ministry depends on him. He has to be strong for everyone and maybe he's afraid of being weak and letting them down.

And just to clarify: I'm not saying the potion was a "boggart-producing potion" or anything like that (I'm sure it's something much much worse) but JKR said theories for DD's boggart were in HBP and Harry says this is the only time he's ever heard DD sound frightened.

How many times have you suspected Snape, and when have you ever been right? Dumbledore trusts him, he works for the Order, that ought to be enough. Dumbledore trusts him and if we can't trust Dumbledore, we can't trust anyone.
