Councillor Roy Gillespie has
asked Irish parents not to take their children to midnight release parties for '
Half-Blood Prince', referring to the fandom as a 'cult'.
Quote:
Describing the specific time chosen for the launch as " suspicious", the DUP councillor said people would do better to buy a bible.
"These cults with their stories about witches are damaging, especially to young people who would be better off saying their prayers," said Mr Gillespie.
"I have two children and one granddaughter and I would not like to see her standing at midnight being told about witches and wizards.
"Children should be well tucked up in bed with their prayers said by that time," he said.
