Cole had tried unsuccessfully to sleep in all summer, and today was no different. He ruffled the blankets around him, rolling over and punching the pillows hard before closing his eyes. Nope, he was definitely awake. He punched his pillow again for good measure before sitting up and touseling his hair. Every single day, he tried to sleep in and every single day he'd still get up at 5 am. It was the time she'd always come in from her long nights behind her telescope, leaving them time to cuddle together until he had to get up and she succumbed to sleep.
Cole shook his head and climbed out of bed, heading immediately into the shower to wash away his mood. Everyone was coming back today, which meant the long quiet days were almost over. He pulled on running shorts and shoes, ready for a grueling run around the lake.
