General Physical: Tall, lanky, thin, somewhat sickly in appearance. He has a chronic illness which forces him to miss classes from time to time. Only the headmistress knows all the details. Pure blood.

Personality: Aristocratic, shy, He gives the impression of being cold and aloof. When a person get to know him, he is surprised to discover Nicky has a very warm personalty. He loves being outdoors and enjoys a good joke. Although he loves living in Great Britain, he is having trouble relating to its people.

HIstory: Nicky is the grandson of Igor Karkaroff, the former head master of Drumstrung Academy. The Karkaroffs are members of the Russian Wizarding Nobility. They are very well respected in the Slavic world. Nicky is a graduate of Drumstrung where he excelled at Dark Arts, Potions, and Quidditch. He was captain and keeper of his house team. After graduation Nicky started auror training hoping to join the Russian Ministry of Magic. At the age of 25, he became engaged to Tatianna Alexandrovna Vurabova, the daughter of the Russian Minister of Magic. Shortly before their wedding the young lovers take a moonlight sleigh ride in the forest outside of Tsarkoe Selo. They are attacked by a wild beast. Tatianna is killed, and Nicky is seriously wounded. His auror career over and his life in ruin, he goes to stay with his godfather, Severus Snape, in London. Snape rekindles Nicky's interest in potions. He teaches the boy the subtle art of potion making and helps him to become a master potion maker. In spite of this, Nicky's first love is still flying. He also loves living in Great Britain and yearns to remain there. For that reason Snape contacts the headmistress at Hogwarts and helps secure the position of Flying Instructor for his godson. Nicky jumps at the chance to teach at Hogwarts.
