The '
Philosopher's Stone' and '
Chamber of Secrets' director,
Chris Columbus, has been quoted in an article for
The Scotsman which deals with the family and money pressures which child celebrities can sometimes suffer with.
What Chris says about Dan Radcliffe shows how supportive parents and a sensible attitude toward money can help avoid any conflicts in the life of a teen star.
"I wanted to make sure the parents were okay," Chris said of his involvement in the Potter films. "In the case of Daniel Radcliffe, who played the lead, you couldn’t find two more supportive parents. My biggest question was, if the kid says, ‘I want to stop!’, will you let them stop? Macaulay Culkin was in a situation where they kept putting him in movie after movie. I was never sure he wanted to make films - to him, it seemed like a job."
The article also compares the sensible views on money that Dan Radcliffe and Charlotte Church share.
"I don’t know how much money I have, and I don’t need to know because I’m only a kid." said Dan.
