| Time for a tutorial! LOL, I just feel like sharing some tricks, so here we go...
Translatable for pretty much any graphics program except MS Paint. *waggles eyebrows at Amanda*
OH, and SS only allows six images per post, so I just posted links instead...and could you tell me if it's worthy enough to appear at IconTutorial @ LJ plz? 1. First, start off with this picture of Rita Skeeter and Bozo.
2. Crop it to something like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/1.jpg
Label it as "base."
3. Copy the base. Sharpen it (using a filter), then set it to Soft Light @ 100% (or any blend mode that softens the sharpening while still maintaining the integrity of the image. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/2.jpg
Label it "sharpen, soft light" so you know what you did to it.
4. Desaturate the base to get rid of the overly-vibrant look. I just used "Color Variations" and set the desat at 50%. You can do it a lot of different ways, though. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/3.jpg
5. Next, apply this gradient: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/4.jpg
194648 and 1C3A54, made by me. Set it to exclusion @ 77%, label it "exclusion gradient."
6. Apply these two gradients: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/5.jpg
Label as "screen gradient 69%." http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/6.jpg
Label as "color burn gradient 56%."
Both were made by crumblingwalls. Don't forget to set the said blend modes and adjust the opacities.
7. Ok, so far, we have this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/8.jpg
Make a new layer right below the three gradients (and above the two base images). Apply these brushes made by someone I don't rember on LJ: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Tutorial/9.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...utorial/10.jpg
Both in white, label as "brush 1" and "brush 2."
The avvy should now look like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...utorial/11.jpg
8. It looks ew, n'est-ce pas? Copy the layer labelled "sharpen, soft light" and paste it on top of all the layers. Set it to Soft Light @ 100%. Go to Color Variations again, and increase blue by 100%. This is what you get: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...utorial/12.jpg
9. Text time...I put "t h a t s k e e t e r w o m an " with spaces, in Georgia, black, size 7, italicized.
10. Make a new layer above the text and apply this brush: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...utorial/13.jpg
In black, at an angle.
11. Finished product: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...utorial/14.jpg
And the layers: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...utorial/15.jpg
If you want to look at it all at once, just go to my PB . PM me if you have questions. |
