Tom Felton was what 16 when he made PoA when he played a 13 year old and he looked the part... a little... right?
I think he looked as if he was older than the rest - as did his Slytherin pal played by Josh Herdman. But then he looked older in CoS too. Like I said, it's just something you have to try and disregard.

Well, I'm certainly very glad that Romola Garai is NOT going to be Lily (my part, touch wood!) However, I did send in my audition letter, and it looks like I'll have to re-send it in at the time, if casting has not started. Does anyone know when it will start?
Well this lady plays 21-year-old Lily so that's who Romola was rumoured to be replacing, not young Lily.

Well Alan Rickman in my opinion doesn't look 59 playing Snape. lol (or it could be cuz I hold a soft spot for him and choose to ignore his age lol)
In PoA he's meant to be about 33/34 having been born about 1960 (remember he's the same age as Lily/James). Alan DOES make Snape look older, but definitely not 59. I'd say Snape looks about 50 in the films. Even though they plaster him in make-up it still doesn't hide the fact that he's aging now (please don't hate me guys!) and the fact that he appeared to have been tucking into alot of pies in one particular scene where he catches Harry in the corridor. He looked far more rounded in the stomach area.
He definitely (Snape) doesn't look as young as Lupin/Sirius in the films and they're meant to be the same age. But, nobody could act the part aswell as Rickman could, so he's the best choice they could ever have made, in that respect.

My dad predicts the end of the Potter Movie Franchise if they change the main characters.
Changing them isn't an option. Like Selena said, it's all or nothing. All of them stay or the films don't continue. That's the better option than trying to replace them because it just wouldn't work.

i would understand if they replaced the characters. juz those 2 tho, coz i mean in ootp, james and lily are in their teens.
That wouldn't be 'replacing' that'd be casting different roles. Obviously they need to cast a 'young Lily' 'young Lupin' etc...
But yeah, I agree age is definitely more of an issue for the boys rather than the girls. Especially Tom and Rupert. Dan is still relatively short at the moment and still has his boyish charms about him - although those are quickly fading, he looked sort of ruggid at the DVD launch - but it'll definitely be harder for them than Emma.
