If this would be true, then I'm guessing that his head would appear in the fireplace, or they would put him in the film as Padfoot but not based on the canon. Maybe they'll combine two situations in the film in one scene, or whatever they could think of.
Sometimes, the presence of a character in the film, either key or not, is not important to me, just as long as the filmakers give justice to the film.
