Dead?!
No, it couldn’t be. There would have been no reason for her to be anywhere NEAR Hogwarts, which certainly helped Simon break free from the effects of the boggart he had first stumbled upon apparently. The security man did mentally berate himself for falling for the original image as a ministry coworker in the first place. “Riddikulus!” he cast at the fallen form, erasing the presence of his hurt or dead wife from the stone floor into an innocent ragdoll suitable for his daughter to play with before vanishing it.
Now clear of the effects, he could take note of the echoing of his spellcasting around him throughout the surrounding mists. But there wasn’t much reprieve as a rather large influx of boggarts made their own appearance, causing all sorts of horrific scenes to play before the assembled group of ministry members. Better prepared this time around, Simon was ready to act, casting the Riddikulus spell repeatedly at the forms as they attacked him.
When Lex’s voice cut through the spell casting, the older man was ready to agree with turning this all over to the more experienced in the matter. And it didn’t have anything to do with the fact that law enforcement tended to have enough horrors to deal with already than worst fears. Simon worked his way carefully backwards, occasionally getting off another round of spells to keep things clearer.
