Laurel, a witch she did not know well, was flustered- pink- flush, fire, fever- while the others, including the former professor, seemed skeptical at most.

The mug was warm in the young mother's hands. She did not speak, not yet feeling any need to, only listened. The other woman's worry seemed to ebb and flow, filling the room in waves of soft, frustrated fear. Aslan tilted her head, careful in her consideration before turning her dark eyes to Adam - fearful too, but not the same fearful - and then to Airey.

He was as grey as ever. A stone. a block. a steel cylinder ready for flight. Certainly, Aslan mused, He had seen enough to know nothing was ever simply gone.

She sipped her coffee, it's bitterness awakening her. brightening. Still, she said nothing.

As Adam was basically blind and the rest of the people in the room were making noises, Adam had no clue another person had joined them. With his back to her, he kept poking at the rock-pillows with his support cane, flipping one or two over in the process.

Though the silence greeting him now was particularly unnerving. He had come to expect the general aesthetic from Miss Evans - still mind boggling that she was one of his employees now - but Adam was being particularly grim today. And yes, the department head did recall the whole attempted consumption of Pebbles...but that was all water under the bridge as far as the man was concerned. Now that that whole situation had come to light, there was no real reason for Airey to resent Adam. Outside of the man being a bit of a liability to the department with his disaster prone nature, that is.

"....is that all?" he questioned, eyes shifting about. Because if not, then he fancied himself a bit of that space ice cream from the vending machine.

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes at him she muttered. "Eh just cool your heels Airey! The chart will still be there in an hour or so and so will the stars when we’ve gotten this sorted out." Gesturing around them Laurel questioned "Why are the pillows still here Airey? They should have been replaced considering what transpired in here before the holidays." She still had that rock golem show up in her seering and she didn’t like it one bit.

Adam, sigh. Did her really have to speak for her when she very well could speak for herself? Feigning the wish too shot Adam a sour look she asked Airey. "What did you do with the rock golem? Did you send it to accidents for evaluation or is it still here?" She really wanted to know if she could scratch that thing out of her dreams and sights as harmless.

Lucien. Lucien. Laurel was upset concerned and rightly so about the pillow rocks and Lucien wanted to play the get-to-know-each other- game. She wasn’t exactly in the best mood for it but figured she could at least answer pleasantly as she shot the other man a small shook of the head. "I don’t believe we’ve met before this Lucian, but it’s nice to make another co-workers acquaintance."

She shot Airey a speculative glance before she added quickly to Lucien so Adam didn’t speak for her again. "I work as a prophecy maven and seer in the Hall of Prophecy.!

Laurel chose to ignore Airey’s angry tone about the memo that had burst into flames. He should just cool his jets. It was just a memo not a stampeding patronus. Looking around the room, counting the rocks off in her head and not reaching 42. Suspicious. Holding up a hand to stop him Laurel asked "If the pillows are no threat then why are a number of them missing from? I only count around 35 pillows not 42."

And why was a woman (Aslan) lingering in the back of the room drinking coffee Laurel just realized? Looking over at her she called out “Hi! Are you looking for someone?”

He heard Laurel’s sigh as if she was standing right next to him. She sure was surly one. He really didn’t have much else to add to this conversation. It was more a case of once again, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Besides, every time he opened his mouth, Laurel seemed to take offense to whatever he said. Best to keep quiet at this point, he figured.

He poked another rock, then turned and folded up his cane. As the rocks were all behind him, he was certain he could find his way out the door and back to Love Chamber. His potion should just about be ready for the next steps or two.

And then Laurel was yelling about rocks being missing and at yet another person…who else had joined them? Adam fidgeted uncomfortably with his sunglasses. It felt like this had become a department meeting. Why would rocks go missing?

A thought occurred to him. ”Is zere ein containment charm on das room?” Because if there wasn’t, perhaps adding one would put Laurel at ease. "Unt vhy vould rocks go misting?" he asked. Surely nobody would want one in place of their desk chairs. Or maybe they did. Adam had no idea if they looked comfy and he wasn't about to try one out.
