Oh, lovely! The children were arriving! Simran clapped her hands together in excitement and positively radiated said glee. Yeah, it was probably entirely apparent that she had something Very Sandhu-esque of her. Was this going to be a regular quiz bowl?

Did Simran Sandhu even know what the word regular meant?

First through the door was Daisy Swann, a girl Simran had always found particularly sharp. She was quite eager to see how Miss Swann would fare in today's event.

"Hello, dear. Had a good day?"

She smiled to the girl next to her before taking a seat then arranging her stuff.

Rosie Abram followed not long after, and Simran gave the third year a warm smile. This wasn't one that she had pegged for the quiz-bowl-type, but she was always happy to be wrong, and always happy for the unexpected happening.

"Hello, Miss Abram."

She was, however, interested in how the others would fare and there was a tiny part of her that did want the satisfaction of knowing whether or not she could answer the questions posed at her peers.

And so she made a point to blend in with the rest of the students slipping into the room, following behind a crowd so that she didn't stick out like a sore thumb. But while the others went to sit at their respective tables, Nina drew herself over to the far wall.

She was not participating. She was a spectator.

One that had very high hopes for her Slytherin classmates. Nina crossed her arms as she waited for the event to begin, her gaze fixed on the still empty table of her own house. Surely her peers would file in soon. This would be utterly shameful otherwise. Again, not that she would ever say anything. As far as anyone else was concerned Nina's only competitive interest was Quidditch (read: she hated Quidditch). Woooooo! Go Józef!

Simran noted Nina Castillo's entry with a small surge of triumph rushing through her veins. Proud Grandma Vibes right here.

Even if the girl hadn't greeted her. And wasn't sitting down. She did know she could do that, didn't she?

"Take a seat, Ms Castillo."

Could she call her Quizmaster???

"Quiz..Professor Sandhu, do we just sit at our table or stand?"

Maybe sit was the best option.

Seems only boring people where standing

Was Miss Fairfield quizzing her? On one hand, Simran was absolutely, on all levels, here for it. On the other hand, however, she was very very surprised.

And took a second to blink before the question processed in her mind.

"Sit, dear. That's why I gave you chairs."

The young Anderson-Belfort's arrival was noted, but since he left her no greeting, she gave him only a nod of acknowledgement. For now. He seemed to be concentrated on something and far be it from her to break that concentration.

Was she ready? Of course she was!

Archer Calrissian was your classic member of Quiz Bowl and Simran adored that about her. Quiz Bowl was one of her favourite things about Hogwarts, back in her day, and it was the best way to show off her random mental trivia collection.

"Hello, Miss Calrissian. Ready for today?"
The girl certainly looked it.

Or questions he just knew the answer to, then he might speak up. But otherwise, he had no intention of really answering.

So why was he here? Because it was in the Astronomy classroom and he liked this tower.

And he was bored.

Wandering in, the boy felt his heart sink as soon as he saw the setup. They had to split up into houses? That was....... probably fair. But seeing the empty Gryffindor table only made him feel even worse, especially since he realised that he, Lucas Dakest, was probably going to be the one answering.

Oh merlin oh no oh no. No no no.

Approaching the empty table, he sat down, uh, somewhere close to one of the buzzers but not too close. Just in case someone else decided to come and join him.

Couldn't he just pretend he was in another house? The Sorting Hat did almost put him in Hufflepuff.

If he answered questions he knew the answer to, he would be doing exactly what a Quiz Bowl was designed for, in Simran's professional opinion. And also in her grandmotherly one. Though neither of her granddaughters seemed as fond of trivia as she was.

Perhaps she'd corrupt Jasmine and turn her into a trivia sensation. That seemed like a good plan.

Meanwhile, have courage, Master Dakest. Someone would join you eventually, she was sure of it. Simran even gave him a conspirational wink of encouragement. She'd love to sit with him -- that was her seat back in the day, after all -- but she had to run this show. Tragic, really.

"Miss Senchuri!" she greeted, as the Ravenclaw entered. And sat right in perfect reach of a buzzer. Simran was more than a little proud about that random fact.

Of course, all the seats were in reach of a buzzer, but as everyone knew: some seats were better than others. Nobody watched a movie one row from the screen. It was a sure way to injure oneself.

He entered the room which had been built to mimic the Great Hall tables and he was glad to spot a few Ravenclaws there already. But first things first. He walked to the Professor and greeted her with an "Hello, Professor" before he launched right in to his question."Can we all participate or are there assigned students for each House?" he asked. He was cool with just watching but he was eager to be part of it.

Simran wiggled her fingers as Master Katharos entered the room. "Hello, dear," she said, smiling, but she didn't really get much further before he launched into a question.

The inquisitive type. She was fond of those. Not that she was surprised, considering Dorian Katharos' sorting into Ravenclaw, but these things were not always a package deal.

"You may all answer, of course!"
she nodded, dead serious now. "As long as you're the one that hit the buzzer."

Why would anyone create an extracurricular that discouraged participation, anyway?

The castle had morphed into a chaotic and scary place, and was not at all suited to Aaron's gentle, loving nature. Needless to say, pretending to be strong for the masses was getting kinda difficult. Necessary, but difficult.

Anyway, he was here, slipping in beside Archer at the Puffer table. If just to give his support? If the Sixth Year happened to answer a question or two, that seemed like a successful day to him. "Hey, guys."

Simran tried not to furrow her eyebrows at the usually sweet prefect's entirely blatant ignoring of the fact that she was sitting right there. Why? Because she was eighty-five years old and not that petty.

Was she?

Of course not.

Anyway, a quick stretch gave her a glance at her watch that made her wiggle with excitement. It was time to begin! Clapping her hands (as was her way) to get everyone's attention, she rose to her feet.

"Welcome, everyone, to Quiz Bowl," she said, taking a look at the participants gathered. Not a bad assortment, if she did say so herself. "For starters, I'd like you to take everything you know about quiz bowls and throw them out the window -- at least for today."

"Today, instead of answering correctly, your task is to be as outrageously wrong as humanly possible. Troll answers only. Most outrageous one gets the points for the question." Everyone follow? She could almost taste the mixed feelings. Like a bag of sour Skittles.

"Of course, we'll have more normal quiz bowls in the future," but normal was overrated. "And I will give you the correct answer at the end of each round, but I just want you to think creatively for today. Now, we'll start with something easy. Are we ready?"

Of course they were. You had to be ready for anything at any time in this school.

"For ten points: In the year 1991, Harry Potter and his companions destroyed the Philosopher's Stone, what was and remains to this day, a stunning feat of alchemy. Who was the creator of this stone and at what age did they die?"

OOC: WE'VE BEGUN. Don't worry, there won't be penalties for arriving late as this isn't a lesson, but feel free to pretend your character has been here all along. Don't forget: Troll Answers Only.
