Oh, whoops. Gunnar should have realized by half the class sitting on the floor that he was meant to also, but... well, that would make brewing potions difficult, wouldn't it? Sitting on the floor?

But he was not about to question it. And when Noble barked the order at him and a handful of others, he exchanged a look with Drew before taking a seat on the floor next to him. Once the first question was posed to the class, the Slytherin paused in thought. Many of his classmates offered spells as answers or Muggle means of adhesive, and, while he knew all of those and thought they were suitable methods, this was potions class. Gunnar's go-to likely would have been a spell being that was his preference, but why had no one offered an adhesive potion as an answer?

But before he could offer one himself, class was moving on and he was taking notes with the parchment on his lap. Trying to figure out what each cauldron held didn't seem to be too difficult a task and he got up with his parchment and quill to see what he could determine.

Uh, what was the best way to go about this? Gunnar watched a few students as they began to determine what was in each cauldron and he decided to make five columns on his parchment, each labelled with the number of the appropriate cauldron. Taking his turn behind each cauldron once he put his gloves on, he dabbed a bit of each of the contents in the designated column on his parchment - all except cauldron five, of course. That was the easiest to determine, but he thought the others would be easy enough once he brought the glued up parchment back to his newspaper-covered spot on the floor and looked through his textbook.

Cauldron five was obviously the spellotape, but he cross-referenced what he sampled on the parchment with what was described in his textbook. Observing the viscosity, the color, and testing each of them with more scrap parchment, Gunnar soon came to a conclusion for each sample as to which adhesive they were.

Quote:
Cauldron 1 – Muggle PVA glue
Cauldron 2 – Gripping solution
Cauldron 3 – StuckOnGlu
Cauldron 4 – Sticking solution
Cauldron 5 – Spellotape
And just in time as it was time to move on. Gunnar looked up as Noble called them to attention, then shifted his focus to the uncovered tables. Eh, seemed easy enough and he chose to try hanging the poster. It was something he already knew how to do and therefore exceptionally simple. Maybe he'd challenge himself on the next task.

Getting up from his place on the floor, he moved over to where the posters were stacked on the table. In his dorm, he'd use a sticking charm, but at home where he was not able to use magic yet, he'd use spellotape. So that's what he'd use now. Gunnar helped himself to a poster and some of the spellotape, then affixed it to the wall. There. The dueling arena could use a little more in the way of decor.

So, what next? The Slytherin looked over at the workstation again. Maybe add some friction to the slippers? Or fix the broken bowl sitting on the table?
