Suits ought to be saved for award ceremonies and charity balls. "Oh, I lost them somewhere near the merchandise stand," he responded to her question, "I didn't want to miss kick off..." So yes, he'd basically abandoned his family for the sake of Quidditch. Evangeline would understand. "Now hold still." He draped the flag around Daisy's shoulders and got to work tying it in a knot at her neck and was so distracted with the task he didn't even see the seekers making a dive for something shiny on the other side of the stands. "Dad!" Daisy was trying to sound reproachful but really all she managed was to sound amused. Her own husband had been abandoned, after all; lost somewhere in the sea of rich people that always seemed to find their way to them. "That's not very nice, Mum will definitely tease you about that." Possibly the kids too. "Wait, is everyone here? Even Max? I might've lost a bet if he's actually here." And Daisy Carden, Dupree or not Dupree, just doesn't lose, okay?
But she could be convinced to wear an English flag as a cape. She was supposedly here to watch the match but she couldn't focus on that, not really. Her Dad was here, talking to her and acknowleding her. Sometimes she could still hear the iciness to his voice back in November, or how he used to look past her, not at her. And now here he was, being his usually warm self and giving up his cape for her. Daisy stood very, very still as he tied it up around her neck and only then did she lean in to hug him again. "Thanks, Dad. I'm glad we're here together."
Who even cared about Chasers.
Well.
One particular loud roar from the crowd did make her look and she gasped, tugging at her Dad's shirt. "Look at that!! That's almost impressive." Probably even properly impressive. If you're not a Carden, anyway. |
