"Oh my gosh, MARK!" Nettie cried. He'd just completely collapsed into the water! Was he trying to get her journal back? Or had he passed out for some reason? So many thoughts. He was going to DROWN trying to get her journal back! He could swim, right?? Because she could swim, but she didn't think she was strong enough to drag him back to the dock.
Arms out, trying not to follow him in to the water and fall in with him, she tried to catch her balance and toppled backwards, but thankfully that was backwards on to the dock.
Then, quite suddenly, the Giant Squid was there, holding her journal. Eyes wide, she jumped forward and grabbed the soggy thing out of his tentacle. "That's mine!" she exclaimed really quickly.
She looked back at Mark, who was thankfully alive and not drowning at the bottom of the lake. "Are you ok?! What happened?!" she asked in shock.
