"Yes, that's the one," Ronan replied to the department head's question. As for any ransacking, the only thing he could see was a few ties sticking out of a drawer (which, really? Who keeps ties in their office? Especially nice ones. Unless he was living out of it...?) and the aforementioned Pebbles laying on the floor. All that, plus to fact that the man had just admitted that the caged man was, in fact, an Unspeakable had Ronan raising a brow. Something about the whole situation wasn't sitting right with him.
Ah, so not possessed then. Then it truly did have to be something that people had been in contact with. This gave the young Auror-in-training an idea. "You said Mr. Gerulf here is one of your Unspeakables, correct? Has he been in contact with anything.....unusual recently? Something he wasn't used to working with? Strange brains, a rogue heavenly body..." Basically, anything that could've caused such an effect on someone. As for how he knew about some of the stuff housed here? He had simply paid attention in history class.
