They had been fussing at him all morning in protest and Derf had been trying his best to explain to them that he absolutely could not keep them in his trunk anymore. That they had gone over this all summer and each of them had promised him that when they returned to Hogwarts and had spent one last night with him in his bed that it was back to their original home. That things were safe again and Hogwarts was not what it had been last term. But, much like Derf himself and all the traumas he had gone through since his first year...words and actions were hard to get on the same page...or even in the same library for that matter.
But, somehow, he had gotten them all to climb into the pockets of his robes willingly and now here he was outside Professor Wayland's hut...reluctantly knocking. Needless to say...he was not particularly looking forward to this. For a lot of reasons.
And his head still hurt and stomach still felt queasy from the lingering effects of the love potion.
