Jade beamed. The golden sparks were awesome - she was glad that it was a good sign. She listened with rapt attention as the wandmaker spoke about the wand that chose her. Ten and a half inches... Rowan wood... Fwooper Feather core... Even the sound of these words seemed perfect to her. She did not mind that the feather would impede her use of Quietus (she could always order somebody else to do it for her) and was extremely happy that she would be able to cast powerful magical shields.

"Thank you," the girl said in her sweetest voice when the man finished explaining the qualities of the wand... HER wand. She couldn't believe she was selected by a wand so quickly. Held tightly in her hand was her wand, her magical companion for, hopefully, her entire school life and beyond. It was HERS.

Of course she would get accessories! "I'll have a purple leather case, please!" Her eyes paused on the list of novelty products available for sale. She REALLY wanted to get some of the trick wands so that she could prank her dad and Layla, but they only gave her just enough money to buy her new wand and a case to go with it. They knew her too well. She COULD get a basic wooden box and use the remaining Galleons to buy some trick wands... but she also wanted a nice case for her very first wand...

UGH. She would have to pass up the pranking opportunity this time.
