Misunderstood, sad and preferring to remain hidden - Augureys were such relatable magical creatures. Davis completed his notes and watched as Professor Petrov summoned four of the fascinating birds from the barn.

The sixth year had indeed seen Susie, Romeo, Julia and Atreyu from his many visits to the school barn. Frankly, he preferred playing with the cuddly Puffskeins and Crups, but every now and then he would try to interact with the Augureys, something which proved to be immensely difficult because of how shy they were. Of course, all this was before Petrov came to power and banned students from entering the barn. Davis did not bother asking him for permission - he was sure his request would be rejected. It did not help either that the professor looked kinda scary.

Walking up to the blackboard, Davis picked a handful of insects that he imagined the birds would enjoy. Standing there beside the other students attempting to feed the Augureys, he tried to come up with a strategy to gain the creature's trust. He figured that the best way to approach it would be to show that he was not threatening in any way... but how would he do that?

The boy walked towards the closest Augurey cautiously and crouched down in front of it. “Hey, little birdie... Romeo, Julia, sorry I don’t know your name... anyways, I have some yummy food for you! Thought you might want to try...” he said quietly as he laid some of the bugs down on the ground between them. He then took a step back to give the bird some space. He pretended to look elsewhere, while watching the creature from the corner of his eyes. It seemed to be interested in the food he offered... after a moment's hesitation, it swiftly bent its head and picked up a large fly in its beak. He smiled and stepped a bit closer, and was happy to find that it did not fly away, but looked at him as it munched on its snack.
